    Media Player Feature. What's your thoughts, and it may need to be improved.


    Okay, so today, unless I am wrong, Microsoft added a Media player App to the Xbox one, that lets you hook up a USB device to your Xbox One.

    Pros:

    Nice way to add Photos/Media to your console,

    good video/music player

    not too hard to figure out how to get it set up

    Cons: (So far as I've seen)

    1. Does not seem to be compatible with an Ipod Touch/Iphone

    2. Does not seem to snap to the side bar, so no listening to Metallica whilst driving though a map of forza, or Killing *** in Wolfenstein while listening to "run through the Jungle"

    Any comments? Complaints? Agreements? Let me (And By Extension, Microsoft) Know.

    LOL....The Other Press Conference Seems to be ALL ABOUT MEDIA!

    Nope. They going around about the games now. Media features are just improved features of ps3 so far. So it seems they do care

    PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Give te XB1 the same media funtionality of the 360

    i wanted it because i believed it would have improved media features such as broarder codec support HD support ect

    No USB needed....... View PC content through the 360 seems like a decent idea Media Player Feature. What's your thoughts, and it may need to be improved. :)

    No USB needed....... View PC content through the 360 seems like a decent idea :)

    Just want to say Kudos to Microsoft!

    Totally agree, I am glad the focus is more games now, but still love the media features, hopefully this update will improve some of the social features that help improve community.

    You need to open your media player preview to see what media files you have and to play them.

    Maximum Supported Screen Resolution For Locally Stored Video (16:9 Aspect Screen Ratio)

    The Xbox One will play a variety of videos up to 1080p, it basically has the same media player featured in Windows 10 (Windows Media Player).

    If it works in that it should work on the Xbox. If your unsure just use Handbrake with high profile preset to convert your videos, if source video is 1080p that will keep it at that and do a high quality conversion, use mkv container if you want to keep
    original audio though Xbox may or may not be able to play the audio source, convert audio if it cant.

    Were things get interesting is the Xbox One has an app store, so far no-one has crafted a replacement media player of worth but I do know the VLC team are working on an Xbox version. A third party media player would expand what the Xbox One could play.
