Media Player dropping off when streaming video from NAS drive since November 16th update

    Hi guys

The post title pretty much sums it up but since Thursday (when I can see an update also became available) I've noticed issues with the Media Player app. The problem is that during playback of a video (always .mp4), at some random point between 20 and 80
minutes the video will stop playing and the app will go back to the home page.

I've deleted Media Player, shutdown the xbox and restarted but no difference. As I write this the Film and TV app has been playing for about an hour solidly so that may be OK.

I stream films for the kids using the Media Player app at least once everyday and have been doing so for months so I can confidently say this was never a problem before. The xbox doesn't appear to be losing connectivity (it's a wired connection) and the
router and NAS drive appear fine and responsive (I've restarted both with no change).

Anyone else seen this since Thursday (16/11/17) or have any ideas?

    :)

Media player freezing after 30 mins on Xbox one x

I have this problem too. I can confirm it happens when streaming via a NAS drive also so it's not USB driver related. It's a function we use daily (playing films for the kids) so I know it times in with the update on the 16th. The other Microsoft player
(I think it's called Film and TV) works OK without the problem if it helps. I also only use MP4's so that would tie in with what @NeutronOverload said...

Just to add this this but after deleting Media Player, shutting down the xbox, then re-installing Media Player, films are now displayed with grey bars (instead of black) at the top and bottom. It's clear this is a known issue and reports suggest you may
have resolved it previously but the problem has clearly been re-introduced (again it seems in the 16/11/17 update).

  5. Same here. I use usb sticks and an external hd to watch videos. Now they stop playing after 20 to 40 mins. The media player worked fine until the last update.

  7. After formatting my 32gb usb stick the long way by unchecking the quick format option. It played one movie and on the second one it froze and crashed. The usb stick works fine on 360, ps3 and ps4.

    Nas drive

The Xbox One doesn't have a build-in System Video Player for browsing the content on a Nas drive. However, you can use the PlayTo functionality on a Windows 8 computer to play the music and video file from NAS to Xbox One. I followed the how
to stream music from NAS to Xbox One
tips and it worked fine. Hope it also useful for you
