  1. Media Player Crashing

When I use my xbox one purely as a music player, and open Media Player to play music from my Transcend USB drive, it regularly crashes. This always happens when I simply hit "Play All" once I've browsed to my music folder of several 10's GB of my mp3s. After
a few songs, it will always crash at some point, sometimes in the missle of a song. When it does, it gives me a "Playback error" message with an option to report the problem - but even that has crashed so I can do nothing but exit to the home screen and start
again. If I play a single album, it is generally fine, but even then it often freezes in the middle of a song for several seconds.

Why is this, and why is it that a state of the art console can't even play music easily, which my 360 does no problem?

    :)

Video On Media Player Keeps Crashing

Hey there Mister Beep, nice to see an official response in one of these threads all about the same issue, there's actually a more recent one which outlines the specifics of this bug, which is pretty much confirmed and easy to reproduce, both me and my friend
have confirmed it happens whether on Xbox One X or Xbox One S, it's as easy as getting any .m4v video file (H.265 video + AC3 audio) and set it to play... after about 25 minutes or so, media player will hard crash, every time, there is no way to resolve this,
even hard-resetting the console and deleting all apps makes no difference... something happened with the Nov 16 Update that has basically BROKEN media player this way. Note that this problem does not seem to affect playback of other file formats, such as .mkv
within media player, it only seems to affect files which have a .m4v or .mp4 file suffix, which is effectively every single video that I've ever encoded onto my external drive, and I used to quite enjoy being able to just leave my xbox running and have it
auto-play through things, but now it can't even make it through a single episode of anything because 25 minutes is hard-crash time!

Can we please get some sort of official confirmation of this problem being worked on?? I don't understand how something like this slipped through the cracks in the first place, much less why it seems to be being treated as if it's an isolated incident; this
affects EVERY SINGLE XBOX USER GLOBALLY and is 100% fully reproducible on ANY console!

Is no-one else experiencing this problem, as it makes me think my console may be faulty?

Actually, EZ I'm seeing this when watching movies and looking at photos through Media Player. My experience is it either crashes or hangs but the end result is I have to kill the Media Player app to get it to work again. I've tried removing and reinstalling
that app (perhaps the app never patched) a number of times, but other that that there not much to troubleshoot.

I stream from a DLNA player which has made my support experience with Microsoft incredibly frustrating. The same video or images steamed to a 360, phones, tablets, a media appliance, or PC in the house works all day long.

I ran across this post in another desperate hope that Microsoft took ownership and fixed their app.

I debated switcginbg my current DNLA server with Plex since there is support for it on the XB1, but I'm about ready to just change hardware solutions. If my X360 can do it...and a $50 WD Live can do it...but a $500 flagship cant there really isn't an excuse.

The only thing that's kept my XB1 off Craigslist is the Master Chief.

  7. Miss Diggz,

Please tell me why you closed my thread, citing that "the original poster hasn't come back in a while" as a reason to do so.

Please tell me exactly what I was supposed to "come back" to? My own comment?

Do you honestly think this is a good experience for Xbox Customers:

    1) Post a problem

    2) get ignored by MS for over 1 month

    3) Other users respond with a similar problem

    4) MS respond to the new posted, while still ignoring the OP

    5) MS close your post as you have not responded despite the fact there is nothing to respond to.

    Seriously?

  8. Media Player Crashing

    Hey there ExploitedZebra!

Sorry to hear about any frustrations this may have caused. The reason that we lock threads is to ensure that the person who bumps the thread can receive individual support specifically tailored to them. Also, if time has passed since the original poster
has replied, it is possible that they may no longer be experiencing the issue.

If you are continuing to experience issues with the Media Player app, I recommend trying the steps that Mister Beep has suggested in your other thread here. Trying a different
hard drive or reformatting your current hard drive would definitely help us narrow down if the issues lies with the hard drive or the console. Another suggestion would be trying your hard drive with a different console if possible. I definitely understand
that this may not be an ideal step to try but it will definitely help us find out specifically where the issue is coming from.

Give the suggested steps a try and be sure to let us know the results. Thanks!
