    Media Player changes video occasionally when xbox button is pushed.


    Occasionally while I am watching a video on media player I will pause the video and stop to check my friends list. Ever since the update there have been multiple occasions where I have pressed the Xbox button on the controller and it will not only load up
    the side snap but it will change to the back a file/video in my external hard drive. This is aggravating when trying to watch videos because you lose your spot.

    Media capabilities of the Xbox one is appalling, you cannot plug in a USB drive and play back media files, and you cannot use the xbox one to play content from a DNLA media server instead you have to push content to it. So if you have a media server you have to use another device i.e laptop/tablet/phone to pull the content from the server and push it to the xbox one.

    Also the xbox one does not play back 4K video (H264) in .MP4 container, I can push 4k video from a smartphone (snapdragon 800) to a pc running windows media player fine, but not to the xbox one.

    Talk about going next gen, they seriously crippled the media capabilities of this system, most probably so you buy/rent content from the xbox one video market place.

    Yes I have created 4 posts in ten mins, well done, you can count.

    Yeah - the B button is back in almost every app I can think of (store, netflix, media player). Certainly it is back when browsing through folders of info, which is what in referring to.

    Sounds like when you open a game trailer, it changes "app" to a video player, and the terrible MS interface then struggles to change back seamlessly.

    Use the system video player. Press the Xbox button on the controller, move right to the Media tab. Select "System Video Player." Then choose "Downloaded Videos" as the source, and you should see your videos.

    I had trouble even pushing a video stream to XB1 using Play To. I abandoned the Play To approach and now use the new Media Player app to stream files to the XB1. With Media Player, you can browse and select your video library without leaving XB1.

    When I select all video's in the Media Player App, it shows all my videos on my media server apart from the mkv videos.

    I know there are mkv videos on the media server, but the Xbox Media Player App doesn't show them.

    EDIT- I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Media Player App. That didn't solve the problem.
