media player... can we get an update

I don't see how the 360 had more features then the one... the media player was light years above the one's. This snapping of the media player personally kind of stinks in my opinion. Why not have a media player thats enabled in the background as well as
having it snappable?

When I game I don't want half of my screen taking up by a snap app, I want my full gaming screen, but I want my music as well

What is your favorite external HDD?

I'm in the market to get one as well because of the new media player update. Does anyone know if I can partition half the drive for xbox storage and the other half for my music and media files? Think of getting a 4 TB and splitting it 1 TB for xbox one game installs and 3 TB for my media.

What file format is your music saved as? (MP3, AAC, etc) Is it saved in an area on your phone that's accessible to the Xbox 360 console?

Optional Media Update downloaded to include more filetypes.

If you're still not able to get it playing, let us know and we'll see what other solutions may help. It may be that it simply won't be compatible, but let's exhaust any other ideas before we humor that conclusion.

 

The 360 doesn't have more features than the One. The media player on the One can play far more codecs and containers than the 360's media player ever could, but I agree that it would be nice to be able to play background music without having the app snapped.

 

Well, XBOX Music will "get an update" for December Xbox Music free streaming ends Dec. 1 Add this to the
list of so called "monthly improvements"...

 

Xbox Music never had ad-supported free streaming on consoles anyway.

 

I miss the old Zune music service where you paid the $9.99 monthly fee and got 10 free songs a month and every song after that you purchased was $0.79 instead of $0.99, which was a far better deal than you could get than Apple's own music service at the
time. In addition, you could use the service, free of charge, to listen to your own music that you already had that was owned. What happened to that? It was a great idea! How come something that good failed?

 

The sorting of videos is much nicer on the Xbox 360.

On my console the system video player shows only the folder (and subfolders contained therein).

I go to System Video Player, Videos.

My friend has a somewhat different experience on his One. He goes to Media Player, Selects his PC and gets four options (Music, Playlists, Pictures, and videos). Not too bad since this is an all in one player and must show the other options.

However on picking videos he now has eight options. I wont list them all this time. He picks Folders and now he is allowed to pick the folder where his videos are kept.

I can understand having all these options available but it just takes that bit more time for him to get to where he wants to go instead of quick and simple on the 360.

 

When I had the media player preview app, I was able to access my media from my PC, my brother's PC, and my mother's PC. For some reason, now that it's no longer in "preview" status, I can only access my mother's PC. It's weird - they all check out on the
network, but the other 2 PCs don't show up on the app and I haven't figured out why yet...
