Media Player and Seagate Backup Plus Portable detection issue

I recently got a 2TB Seagate Backup Plus Portable drive as a media storage, the XB1 detects it fine, Media Player will INITIALLY recognize it and play stably...Problem is....

When I shift to a game then shift back to Media Player, Media Player no longer recognizes the drive. XB1 still sees it, Media Player does not, and the only method for Media Player to once again recognize the Seagate is a HARD REBOOT.

    :)

  2. Xbox One Media Player Does Not Recognize Drive

I have two identical Seagate 2TB Backup Plus Portable Drives. One of the drives are detected on Xbox One and the drive's media can be played by the Media Player app. However, the second drive is not recognized.

    Both drives are the same:

    Seagate Backup Plus Portable Drive

    Model: SRD00F1

Format Type: ExFat (I reformatted both of the drives to ExFat)

Contents: They are the same. One acts as a backup of the other.

What can I do to have the Xbox One be able to read the other drive? There's no difference between them and the contents on the drive are also the same. Thanks.

    Xbox One External Hard drive

Is the Seagate Backup Plus PORTABLE external drive too slow for the XB1?

Seagate sells the 4TB Xbox Game Drive. This drive looks very similar to its cousin the 4TB Seagate Backup Plus PORTABLE (and I write portable in caps because Seagate also sells the Backup Plus that is a bigger 3.5" external drive that needs external power while the portable model is driven by power from the USB 3 port itself).

When I got the drive I proceeded to format it on the XB1 and downloaded Gears of War 4 to it. The game launched without any problem but the music stuttered. I found this very strange and proceeded to move the game from the external drive to the internal on the XB1 and there the music and everything worked perfectly.

Has anyone tested one of the Seagate Backup Plus Portable drives on the XB1 for storing games on them? What are your results? I found this article on storagereview and it appears that the Xbox Game Drive is indeed a little faster on sequential read speeds than the Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB on the syntetic tests:

I would love to read some real use experiences.
    Thank you.

Media Player and Seagate Backup Plus Portable detection issue

Hi, could you check a setting on the Xbox please, go to settings/ all settings/ power & startup/ power mode & startup. Is there a check mark in " When Xbox is off, turn off storage " if there is then uncheck that, restart the Xbox and try things again.

If you use Instant on power mode on the Xbox try switching to Energy saving, if that helps then try switching back to Instant on again.

    External Hard Drive. Which one?

I bought a 2tb Seagate backup plus portable. It doesn't need its own power supply and it's speeds are generally faster than the Buffalo.

    External Hard Drive Not Recognized

Hey I just bought a seagate backup plus 3tb and it was only going to media and not storage for games it wouldn't even let me format it on Xbox one so I called xbox and they said it's not compatible with the xbox it has to be a seagate expansion not a backup
plus because it just backups files and doesn't let you put games and apps into the storage just media and pictures and music

    External hard drives

I use a Seagate portable backup plus 2tb drive. It's considerably faster than the internal drive and doesn't need a power supply. Got it from PC World for £69.99.

    External Hard drive won't work

I was also able to resolve the issue be changing the cable. For some reason the cable that comes with the Seagate Backup Plus is not 100% compatible with the xBox One. In this case i have a 4TB Seagate Backup Plus
