  1. Media Player almost unusable on folders with lots of images

This is about the public released version of the Media Player app.

My camera groups photos in folders, 1000 photos each.

The problem is if you try to visualize photos towards the end of the list (e.g. 900th or so):

    - First of all, scrolling all the way to 900th image is a pain; I found some way to page down using the trigger, but that seemed to jump back and forth, so it keeps me at the same position. So the only way I found is to use the left joystick which takes
    forever

    - 2nd of all, once you reach there, you need to wait forever until thumbnails start being loaded; it took me several attempts, couple of times the app crashed after waiting for 10-15 minutes; it looks like the app is still loading earlier images when it
should load the images that are being displayed on the screen; the fact that photos are pretty large could also aggravate the problem as loading each photo takes a few seconds.

Also, is there any way to disable the animations when I choose play all? I understand that some people like seeing stuff moving on their screens, but for me that feels annoying. Plus that my photos are already 16x9, I don't need the app to zoom portions
of them so that it moves them. I just want to see the full image with no movement.

    Thanks,

    Adrian

    :)

  2. Xbox one media player after update

Has anyone else noticed that since the update the media player displays folders on USB HDD differently? I have a HDD plugged in with my downloaded TV shows on it. The individual episodes are in folders for each season, and the seasons are grouped in folders
titled with the series name. Previously all the folders were folder icons, and the individual episodes were still images of the opening scene of the show. Now when I go into my HDD, only the first 2 folders are displayed as folders, with the rest of them displayed
as cheap, low res "file" images, like a word document. This makes it very difficulty to read the titles of the folders since the font is white, and the file image is white. I don't know what they broke with this update, but it looks terrible. I was hoping
they would add the ability to add cover art for the folders, and when I saw this new change I thought that was what had happened. Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case. Am I the only one with this issue? I have seen others posting about the xbox
no longer reading their media files, but have not seen anything posted about this.

Large filesize photos displayed in Media Player are only fuzzy previews

When I try and view some of my photos in the Media Player app, it's only displaying fuzzy, previews of the images, not the clear, full version.

This seems to be happening to all the pictures I have in all folders which have a filesize of over 2-3Mb. Any small images (e.g. a few 100Kb) get displayed correctly.

The photos are saved on a Synology DS212J on my local network. I'm sure it used to briefly show the fuzzy preview whilst it streamed the full version of the file in the background, but now the proper version of the file never gets displayed.

Does anyone else have this issue displaying largish images clearly in Media Player and is there a fix?

    Thanks

    Play To disappearing

The only problem with using the Media Player is that my videos are on two separate hard drives. I have them separated into folders using letters of the alphabet for each folder and the N-Z folders are all symlinked from the Video folder to their locations
on the second drive. The Media Player won't see the symlinks at all so I can't access half my video library from the Media Player. I can play them from Play To, however it'll drop out from time to time, usually if I reboot the media server and the Xbox is
    still on. It's annoying.

Xbox Music duplicating content on PCs

    Hey ldl01031,

Sorry to hear you're having issues with duplicate songs.

From the files that you linked it looks like it is creating a new instance of the song in your overall music folder, the Xbox Music folder, and then a backup in the Xbox Music Cache. With the size of the network and volume of songs it sounds like you're trying
to manage, this may not be an issue we can completely resolve as the Media Player is not intended to function in that capacity.

That being said, I would still recommend you check out the
    Windows Media Player Troubleshooter
    .

There is also these steps to remove duplicate items from your library:

**I would recommend backing up your data first before trying either of these methods**

    a. Click Start, click Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.

    b. Select all the files in the folder, and then click Delete on the File menu.

Note: You do not have to delete the folders that are in this folder.

    c. Restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

If this does not resolve the problem, clear the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. Exit Windows Media Player.

    b. If you are running Windows 7, click Start, click Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click OK.

    c. Select the Media Player folder, and then click Delete on the File menu.

    d. Restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

I'm not 100% on this method as it doesn't look like these files are true duplicates since they are not being saved into the same destinations.

Please let us know how that all works for you and we'll go from there.

    External Hard Drives

the easiest method is to set up a shared folder with windows media player on your PC, and stream your media wired or wireless to you xbox360. any media in the shared folder your xbox will see. movie files should be in the format Divxx/Xvid/ or WMV or H.264
