    Media playback problems

    Hi Everyone

I've been having problems with media playback on my Xbox One. Playing games works absolutely fine, but I have experienced the following problem when trying to use the NowTV app and also with DVD playback.

I initially had my console connected to my sound receiver, but discovered that if I used the Now TV app, the screen would flash off / on periodically, and the app would exit with an error after a few seconds. The same happened when watching a DVD. I subsequently
connected the console directly to the TV, and now when watching a DVD, every few seconds, the screen fills (from bottom to top) with what looks like random noise. The entire screen is filled in a matter of 3-4 seconds, and then it clears for another few seconds.

Any ideas what's going on? I've tried switching inputs, and obviously have now cut the sound receiver out of the equation.

    All pointers gratefully received!

    Charlie

    :)

  2. Xbox One - My Home Theater Device: Perks and Consequences

Windows Media Player already installed in Windows 7 (or a free download if you have the N version). Xbox One Media Player to play that content. You can control all playback functions with Kinect.

Alternatively purchase NAS with built in media server. Use Xbox One's Media Player to playback content. Use Kinect to control playback.

Buy a media remote if you don't have Kinect.

You seem to be adding needlessly complex steps to your media playback.

Yes, the PlayStation 4 Supports External Storage, but There’s a Catch

And media playback I'm sure. Just like the current gen systems.

XB1 allow to play video from external HDD?

No. There is no support for media playback from a storage device.

Does the new Media Remote work well with Media Center Extender?

Cool, thanks. I'm not so much concerned with opening Media Center as I am with the playback controls once in Media Center.

DVD playback quality is still atrocious.

The reason I prefer the 360 over the One for DVD playback is the media remote. The one for the 360 can operate my TV and DVD playback. By contrast the One media remote is very limited and parts only work when pointed at the Kinect.

Also what utter nonsense that the One is not designed for DVD playback. if it were not then it wouldn't even be able to play them, as it wouldn't have the diode in the drive.

Using My Xbox 360 As A Media Server.

The 360 is intended to be used for media playback, not media serving. Besides the console baring copying of untrusted content to its HDD, it has no facilities to "serve" content to something else.
