Media from an external USB?

Hi,

I am just wondering what kind of support, if any the Xbox One has for playing media through an external hard drive? And if it is supports it, what size hard drive works?

Is there anyway to turn off continuous play on the XBONE media player? Playing from external HD.

if Microsoft is smart they'll make it so you can transfer media files to HDD from other external media source OTHER then a craptacular audio disc which only holds 20 tracks.

 

Unfortunately there is no media support for external USB drives yet. We hope that this will be coming in one of the next dashboard updates. Until now it is only possible to stream media from a PC or laptop with at least Windows 7.

 

Thanks for that! Looking for a new way to play media on my TV, as it only supports 2tb hard drive, and have run out of space. I'll keep an eye on the X-Box updates. Cheers

 

This is [Mod Removed] they did this because they want you to pay for movies. I have been a loyal microsoft fan for years now and i am seriously thinking of switching to ps4. I still cannot believe you cannot play media through external devices!!!

The mediaplayer which will support external USB devices is coming with the September update to Xbox One. It will support external USB 2.0 devices with audio and movie files.
