Media button functionality is a joke

Microsoft needs to put in a requirement that any apps work with media buttons like stop, play, pause. Etc. this worked fine on 360, but it is spotty at best on the1. I figured it was just because the whole system feels like a beta system, but it really
has come a long way on the OS level. Somewhat.

It is time to require consistent UI. This is part of owning the ecosystem.

You know who the people that use remotes on the Xbox are, right? We are the people that can afford a 300 dollar remote control. The people that pay for gold even though we barely game anymore. I can certainly afford to replace this box with an Apple TV.
And I will as soon as amazon is available on it.

Get it together. You can't pretend to be a serious streaming option when the stop button doesn't work.

Will it allow another button to duplicate the functionality of the missing Media Center button?

Xbox Media Remote - Xbox button functionality

Hi there,

I just tried the remote on my console (alpha build) and it brings up the option to turn off the console.

Question - have you changed the batteries in the remote lately? When I had the issue like you described, someone else in the preview mentioned to try fresh batteries. I changed the batteries and it all started working correctly.

so, the request is just to create the requirement in any media apps on the Xbox. I'm not really looking to solve my specific issue, more a platform miss.

That said, I use a harmony . It is using the Xbox one profile. The app that I noticed it on was the amazon app. But I think the new hulu app has issues too.

But again, I am not looking for a solution to my remote. It works fine, and bridges my entertainment center with,hue, Alexa, and smartthings. it is not being replaced.

I am looking for MS to implement UX standards on the apps in the store. Consistency in button mapping should be required for an app to be published. Once that exists, I will simply report any apps for being out of compliance with standards.

Thanks for the help. Is there even a media center type app for XB1 yet? I can't find anything that is comparable to the Media function that you could get to on the 360 by hitting the guide button.

Still no luck Mister Cizl

I have noticed however that it isn't only the Xbox guide button that won't activate as a hold. All the buttons don't function as a hold feature, even the volume buttons. It senses the first push then the backlight on the media
remote shuts off and the hold function, on any button pressed, does not work.
