Mechwarrior 5 disc wont play

Same issue here. Bought a brand new retail disc and have the same incompatibility error when i put in the disc. I'll try the storage cache clearing and power cycling when i can. If that doesnt work, i'll have to go back and exchange for a new one.

From googling this issue, it seems to be an unusually common situation and makes me wonder if when the discs were produced that some batches somehow ended up with the Series X version instead of the Xbox One version which, i would think, would cause the incompatibility issue (that or some setting when the discs were made was set wrongly).

Can confirm MrEngineer's experience. Was able to download it from the xbox store with the disc in the drive. have not yet tried playing it though.

I do not believe it is a defect - I just got the disk from amazon and it too gives me this error.

So, it appears the game on the disk is not for XBOX one, even though the front and the back of the disk box says "Xbox series X and Xbox one".

Where can we get a disc version for our Xbox One?

I did this too, installed it from the store while the disc was in the unit, (even though it said it could not read). After it installs it seems to play fine. Thanks a lot for the help I was going to return the disc back to GameStop.

I do not have game pass. And I was only able to download and run this game when the disc was in the drive.
