Mechassault

I owned Mechwarrior 1-4 w/all Mercenary editions/expansions, Mech Commander 1 & 2, & Mechassault 1 & 2, & currently play Mechwarrior Online. It's safe to say I grew up with the franchise.

 

omg....Chromehounds. Lol....I havent thought of that game in many years. I kinda remember liking it. Didn't it have one of the first "perpetual worlds"? I think I recall that being a big selling point.

 

I think a new Steel Batalion would be cool.

Minus the $150 controller.

 

Steel Battalion, now that was a mech game! I still remember dying over and over again trying to cross a bridge into an occupied city. So, what did I do? I forded the river instead. It took so much fuel doing so that half-way through the battle, in the center
of the city, I promptly ran out of gas and couldn't move. I had to figure out how to use the monstrously-sized controller (which was awesome BTW) to call in a fuel drop and battle the remaining forces from my standing position while slowly getting surrounded.
The fuel eventually came, but too little too late. I had already taken the city with my very last shell of ammo.

One of the most epic games I have ever played...

 

OMG I was hoping MechAssault was going to be one of those old IP's brought back. No luck. MechAssault is one of my all time favorites. The Catapult and Timber wolf were my favorites

 

And both of them are in Mechwarrior Online.

I'm looking at my 100% complete with everything / perfect condition Game of the year edition of "Mechassault" right now and this game was released in 2003. It has been 11 years since I played that game, I don't remember any of the variations with the exception
of the Owens because of Mechassault 2 Lone Wolf.

The Mech's that I'm most familiar with are...

(1) Cougar --> because it is my favorite

(2) Madcat --> it was okay

(3) Thor --> It doesn't have a head LOL

(4) Atlas --> The Mech that the leader of the Word Of Blake was using. I had the Thor in this battle.

I hope that they keep the Power Armor from Mechassault 2 Lone Wolf because running up to an enemy occupied Mech & then Hi-jacking it is too much fun LOL

Hello everyone

I was just playing Mechassault 2 Lone Wolf with my Xbox 360 and the game looks great / plays great / runs great until you get to the mission "Into the Valley of Death".

You pilot the Uziel Mech and once you clear out the area, you're instructed to rescue the detained civilians. But, the moment you exit the area and watch your Mech walk off screen, the game crashes (thus making it impossible to get past this mission).

It looks like I'm going to have to dig out my Original Xbox again to get past this point LOL

On a side note, it is called a "Battle Armor", not "Power Armor".

The most famous of the Battle Armors that Lei Fang refers to were known as "elementals" which were often used as shock troops to tear mechs apart. These do NOT appear
in Mechwarrior Online, I believe in large part due to balance reasons.

 

Many of the mechs in the series' previously mentioned have 2 names (as you'll see below) because there are 2 primary factions that war in the franchises' universe: The Inner Sphere and the Clans (both of which consist of smaller sub-factions). Some mechs
only exist in one faction or the other and not both and as a result, only have 1 name. In any case, here's a list of the mechs mentioned in recent posts and with links regarding their background/inclusion in MWO.

Cougar - does NOT appear in MWO (but its distant cousin, the
Adder, does)
