    Mechanical noise persists even after "repair"


    Should I send it back in to get repaired? My warrant expires in like 5 days. I am just not sure if it's worth it considering last time I shipped it, waited 3 weeks, and apparently got my same console back with no repairs because it has been making the noises
    all the time when I put Madden in.

    Because the USB Memory Unit performance test is for flash
    memory, not a mechanical HDD. Mechanical HDDs will always fail the performance test because mechanical HDD random read/write access is poor. This is why even the highest performance mechanical HDD gets beaten by any SSD with a decent controller in any random
    read/write test.
    As the 360 says, the device will work. For game installs it should be fine. Usually games just read in from disk in big chunks. Sequential read/write performance on
    a mechanical HDD is fine.
    A DVD spinning at 12x for hours at a time is not exactly healthy for a DVD drive. This is why it is best
    to install DVD-based games to the HDD before playing.

    Did it sound like a mechanical grinding noise or electrical buzzing? If it's a grinding noise it's probably something not working right in the disc drive. If it's electrical sounding then it could be just about anything. In either case your only option would
    be to send it back to microsoft for a repair, as attempting to fix it yourself will void the warrenty.

    It does not matter where the HD is from All mechanical (Non SSD) HDs will start making clicking noises when they are starting to go bad.

    Your best bet would probably be to try and setup a repair order.
