Me, my brother, and my friend got booted or d dossed offline. Please help. I do not tolerate ...

Hello enforcement team. Me, my brother and my friend were playing halo 3. We win the game. A guy we played against invited us to the party. His gamer tag is [Mod removed]. We joined thinking he wanted to team with us. He had no mic, so we left. We go back
in our own party then my internet goes out. Someone told me there is a way to get someones IP address if they join your party by downloading some program. I think this is true because this isn't my first time getting booted offline as before some random player
told me my IP address and my street address in the party once before. This is how he booted me and my friend offline. Me, my brother and my friend were offline for about 45 minutes. We live no where near each other so we have different ISP's. I found this
out when my internet came back on and he told me. When my internet went off I thought if might be my ISP but it wasn't as there were no outages and it was working for everyone else. I tried restarting my modem and router several times and it still wouldn't
work. My freinds ISP as well. He called his ISP and they didn't know what ddossing was so they told him to call Microsoft about the situation. When my friend gets back offline he sees he has a message from [Mod removed]. It says
"you will be offline soon, disrespect = dissconect". I'm guessing he got mad because we beat him bad in Halo 3 and were crouching on him. This isn't my first rodeo of this happening to me. Its just this time i
am not letting it slide. I demand this player [Mod removed] to be banned as he did this to me, my brother and friend. Isn't this against the law as well? This shouldn't be able to happen from a console. There shouldn't be a way to retrieve
someones IP address and other credentials from a Xbox. I am having second thoughts of getting a Xbox One if this can happen on there as well. Please enforce something on this player. I been a loyal xbox live member for 8 years. I won't continue buying xbox
live if this can happen. I need to assure my safety. Please help and if you need anything just ask. [Mod removed] deserves a perma-ban. Thank you.

so this dude was asking me questions then all of a sudden I got booted offline and he even said that he booted me. And now I don’t know what to do. Can u please help me

Calling out gamertags is not allowed on the forums.

File a complaint against this person via your console & avoid the player but this is more down to your isp than it is Microsoft so i would contact them.

damage.

Halo 3, as a wide range of games that you play online relies on two concepts,
P2P (Peer to Peer) network architecture and
Listen server. Despite which technique is being used for state of game, information are required to be exchanged, so that communication
can be established. between players. Without this information you wouldn't be able to play these titles online.

As stated above, this has nothing to do with a specific device, but an application running on this device, using
P2P (Peer to Peer) network architecture.

 

Thank you for the replies, but I contacted xbox via live chat and they told me to post it here on this forum. It's still crazy how someone can download a program to view someone IP address from the xbox live party.

 

Actually it doesn't take that much actually he just has to login into the router and it shows every up connecting to them

It's the way the internet works

How you fight it is simple.

Use your firewall and contact your isp

They will deal with it

Ddos attacks do not go thru the Xbox live network but the internet

 

@X 2lander - The IP you use, to traverse the Internet-at-large is public.

If you haven't already, I suggest that you reach out to your ISP ASAP and have them know about your situation and get them to issue a new unique IP, for your connection.
