    MCC Halo CE on Windows 11 Xbox app is consuming all available memory


    Recently the Master Chief Collection Halo CE for the Windows Xbox app is behaving as if it has a memory leak. It starts at a reasonable memory usage but then quickly consumes all available memory (currently running 32 GB physical memory) until it starts swapping to disk.

    This is what I've tried so far with no improvement:

    • Verify and repair game
    • Completely uninstalled the game
    • Reset the entire Xbox app
    • Rolled back my graphics driver (see detailed info below)
    This doesn't appear to affect other MCC games as I played Halo 4 for around the same amount of time it takes to affect Halo CE with no ill effects. Maybe this is a bug (known or unknown) specific to Halo CE.

    These are detail specs on my OS, apps, and graphics.

    I have Windows 11 22H2 Build 22621.900 and Xbox app version 2212.1001.36.0 and Master Chief Collection 1.3065.0.0. My graphics card is an Asus Rog Strix RX 6600 XT driver version 22.11.2.

    I've included an in-game screenshot with an overlay of system performance stats and highlighted the memory usage at the time.

    Based on the description and details you have provided already; this definitely is a game specific concern especially that the issue did not occur when you tried Halo 4 on the device.     Halo Reach and CE are the only titles currently available in the PC version of Halo MCC. All the other titles will be added one by one in chronological order during the year.

    I agree its dumb. On Xbox MCC comes with just Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 4. Reach and ODST are considered add-ons. On a PC They are all included but only Reach, CE and Halo 2 are currently available with Halo 3/ODST and 4 coming later (inlucded). In
    my opinion this really should have been a play anywhere title as well, but so far not the case and there is no cross-play only cross-progression.

    halo mcc works fine on windows 10 and 11, i used to play it via the xbox app but now have it on steam and play weekly, it is fully working with 32bit and 64bit systems.

    there must be an issue with your system.
