Maximum hard drive size

Hello out there, as I am new to this

I have the Original (Fat) Xbox 360. It has a tiny 20GB Hard Drive right now.

I am wanting to upgrade it. I want to try and see of I can put any Hard Drive larger than the 250 (max size for this form factor).

I know that the Slim model has 320, and 500GB. Ive also been researching online that MS has updated the system to recognize 2TB drives. How true is this?

So, can I pull out my 20GB and throw in a 2TB drive? I don't want to be banned from Xbox live.

I don't really want to get the slim model, as I found this one for $50 on craigslist. It works (Jasper Motherboard) so that's all I'm happy about. Now, I just need to drastically increase my Hard Drive space.

@bran - I know as a single drive there is a 10TB, but not sure if it's external.

So with the One, the sky is the theoretical limit? Good, I like that!

And with the 360, is it unto 2 drives of 2TB each, or 2 drives totaling 2TB?

 

As far as official Xbox hard drives, 250 gb would be the highest. Yes, you can use an external USB drive up to 2TB. You don't have to take off the 20gb. You can use both.

 

what I meant was am I able to take a 2TB Hdd and stick it in the enclosure? IE can I get my system to read a Hdd larger than 250? Ive been googling online, that it can be done, but I want to reach out to others who have done it. I also don't want to be

No.It's classed as system tampering & would get your console banned.

Your only option is to plug in an external hdd via the usb port if you want more than 250gb.

 

I`m sure they did do a 320GB HDD for the original 360.
