mass effect trilogy box set won't play on xbox one

I recently bought the mass effect trilogy box set and it will not load the games on xbox one. I keep getting error code 0x80070490 but i have not found any solution to this problem in any searches. Anyone else have this issue? Is there a way to fix it? I
have tried the hard reboot and it did not solve the issue.

Aparently the Mass Effect Trilogy could be making it's way to the Xbox One!

I own all these on the 360, but to be honest would love an excuse to play through them again.. best trilogy in video game history in my opinion... even though the first one was the best in my opinion!

I don't think load was the right word. I got the game to initially load. I put in the disk, and the xbox prompted that i needed an update (around 8gb). It downloaded and installed and i was able to play the game. When i turned off the xbox for the night
and tried to play the next day i keep getting error messages.

Do you own this game or app...Insert the disk.

When i insert the disk i get the message that something has gone wrong and it always sends me to download the blu-ray player.

 

Ahhh okay. Gotcha. Did you purchase the game discs pre-owned by any chance? Do other backward compatible games or regular DVDs (not Blu-rays) work in your console? How about regular Xbox One games or Blu-ray discs?

Just trying to narrow down if the issue is with your discs or your disc drive so keep us posted.

I bought the games new. The box set was still wrapped in plastic. I have no issues playing any xbox one games. These are the first xbox 360 games that i have tried with the console. I just tried to play a disney movie dvd on the xbox and it worked.

 

Hmm. I'm thinking the issue is possibly with the discs you purchased then. Are you able to exchange the discs for a new set? If other regular DVDs are working, that means your disc drive is likely fine. (Generally, failure to play Xbox 360 games and regular
DVDs is a sign that your disc drive is failing necessitating a console repair.)

Couple other things to try, if possible:

1. Can you create/use another Xbox Live account and try playing the games on that account on your console?

2. Do you have a friend nearby that owns an Xbox One? If so, can you bring your games over there and try them on that console?

Ok so in the last few days i found an xbox one to try the disks in. I installed the game and then shut down the xbox. I started it back up and the game worked perfectly. I turned the xbox off again and the the game worked perfectly. I suspect that the disk
drive on my xbox was the issue and not the game disks. This may help others that get the same loop of error messages. The disk drive may be starting to go bad and either needs to be replaced(i was told that it would cost $135) or you could trade it in to some
store and upgrade your device. That is what i chose to do. I traded the xbox one that i had for an xbox one S. I have had zero issues with the game since.

 

Awww bummer that the issue came down to your disc drive. But it sounds like it all worked out for you in the end and now you have a sleek new Xbox One S.
