I am late to Mass Effect, though I have played for 6+months. I want to increase my readiness rating but I don't have an I pad, I have a Kindle fire. Is this possible?

2. Mass Effect: Infiltrator and Mass Effect: Datapad App
"At a press event in New York today, EA announced that BioWare'**** Mass Effectfranchise will be coming to iOS as a new game called Mass Effect: Infiltrator, which will tie in with their upcoming game Mass
Effect 3.

The game was described as a "fully featured iOS third-person shooter" which will showcase "stunning graphics and authentic weapons and powers from the Mass Effect series."

The story for Infiltrator will involve helping free prisoners from a hostile Cerberus base, and that players will "receive rewards" for collecting evidence of Cerberus' crimes.

The aforementioned rewards play out in how the game will tie in with Mass Effect 3. According to EA, "Every completed rescue and intelligence discovery in Infiltrator will increase a player's Galactic Readiness
rating directly through the 'Galaxy at War' system in Mass Effect 3.""

"In addition to the the upcoming iOS game Mass Effect: Infiltrator BioWare also announced an app called "Datapad" that would allow you to "stay in touch with all of the info in Mass Effect 3," check the status of the war in the galaxy
map, and even get messages from game characters.

Okay, this kind of sounds like a slick way to tell us about newly released DLC, but I have to say I get a kick out of the idea of getting texts (or maybe even sexts!) from the characters in my game.

"Hang on a second guys, I gotta go **** some with Thane. Be right back.""

@cryptic (big post dont want to clog forum)

there are Justin Bieber singing toothbrushes, trading cards and dress up dolls (working at a nation wide retailer exposes you to these horros), ME3's marketing is no where near out of control

.

but one thing I do want to know is what exactly are they doing that is shady? selling ios apps? there are other games that do the same, day one dlc? there's been day one dlc for forever. Im seriously not seeing any of these problems that everyone else seems
to talk vaguely about.

.

in a semi bad analogy they sell cars but at the same time they release parts that are better than stock (a lot from the manufacturer) for a couple hundred bucks per bolt on yet how am I getting any less of a car because these added parts (that aren't necassary)
aren't included with the car?
I'd probably kill myself if I had to be exposed to Justin Bieber over-the-top merchandise all day. -_-

To the serious topic.

I didn't say selling an iOS app was shady. It's the obvious path BioWare is going to take Mass Effect after Mass Effect 3 is over with, no not constant iOS/Android apps but the TPS action genre, so I'm not entirely surprised how it ties in with the Galaxy
at War mechanic, that's easily understood.

As for Day 1 DLC, it has not been around forever please don't kid yourself. Day 1 DLC is the new business model to garner profits outside of the base game even though most Publishers are making enough revenue to cover the production of even AAA titles let alone
lower production titles.

Did we see day 1 content for Mass Effect 1? I don't believe we did, there was the Limited Edition that included an art book, behind the scenes DVD, and fiction book. Completely different from what we have now. At that time the Publisher was Microsoft Game
Studios, then EA acquired the rights to the franchise. We all know EA and Activision are the two big leaders and potentially could be the only ones left if this trend continues.

Case in point, at the
DICE summit
which is still going on, harkened to the notion of the current Publisher model being "broken". Not a fact and
not specifically speaking to Day 1 DLC or even the recent "Online Passes" that have sprung up, but it does harken on the notion that the business model of Publishers is suspect to say the least.

One snippet taken from that section, "pointing to the recent woes of THQ and its inability to be a successful business on
$800 million in revenue. In such an environment, Pachter suggests that the end game could see the field reduced to only a couple of players, like EA and Activision. He feels that outcome will be bad for the business, that we will be playing
Call of Duty 37 at that rate, and that gamers will get shortchanged as new IP dwindles.
"

So with that out there whether you choose to see the point of that it's up to you. But it does all go back to my point that I've said before, this upsurge in recent practices by Publishers namely EA and Activision, that are recording outstanding revenues as
is obvious in of course Call of Duty, are still going about this kick of forcing it onto certain Developers to give up "extra" added content from the base game just to make even more profit, when in reality most if not all of what's been hinted at specifically
for Mass Effect 3 up to this point is obvious content withheld from the base game. I don't know how anyone could try to deny that, that's the entire purpose of Day 1 DLC, there's no reason for it to not be in the base game if they're marketing it months before
the game even releases and especially before the game even goes gold.

That's what is shady. Agree or disagree it's the obvious truth, and an ugly truth at that. If you can't see the obvious shift in marketing practice that has changed over the last couple of years then I'm sorry and no disrespect but you're either blind or you
just choose not to pay attention. I don't mind extra content, not what I'm griping over, of course I think DLC is a nice added bonus, but just leave the quantity over quality notion in the garbage bin. Produce more quality content that's actually worth asking
price. Giving away DLC in the action figures specifically is an obvious example, you're paying for the action figure which no one needs to repeat the high price of that, you're not paying for the content included that is 99% of the time no where close to
being worth that much money as it's minimal content.

And no everyone this doesn't mean that I "dislike" vader, we have debates all the time this is nothing new, so calm your pipes. As for
4lyfe, I'm not even going to respond to someone who simply says in rebuttal, "Oh but it's 2012, just get with the times." - Like that means anything whatsoever to what I even said, read a post first please then make your witty remark.

No one is making a witty remark not was it a response to you anyway lol. Complain all you want nothing is going to change what's going on. Don't support it, ignore it or whatever, that simple. Your long paragraphs isn't going to help anything
Oh I'm sorry I didn't know that your completely insightful "one" paragraph adds anything to this discussion, my bad you're undeniably correct. /sarcasm

Lol like really, it's completely obvious your little remark was directed at what I said it's not that hard to miss.

Being apart of a forum community and it being such a small percentage doesn't matter whatsoever, BioWare developer staff themselves frequent the BSN to gather not only feedback but also fan insight, so your logic that forums do not matter is just wrong.

Maybe if you would have actually read my first post you would have noticed that I myself know that nothing will change in how the industry is going about this new marketing model. But oh yeah I forgot, because there is too many paragraphs
you'll just disregard it and then come back and say "oh but it's 2012, therefore you should just go with whatever is thrown at you and just ignore it."

Sorry, but not everyone just eats up whatever is thrown at them.

I already said that I do not mind extra content, but it's this practice of shelling so much non-sense out there before a game even releases and then asking obscene amounts of money, i.e. the action figures just as one example, for said content
even though you're paying for the action figure not the content is what I find shady. The content itself is obviously minimal, and it's obviously optional don't be so stupid we all know that, but that does not mean it's invulnerable to criticism. So stop
acting like just because it's optional that it can't be spoke of or disagreed with.

I still will play the crap out of Mass Effect 3, and I will probably buy most of the DLC that comes out
after ME 3 is released, I did the same for ME 1 & ME 2, so let's not think that I am against content being released as long as it's worth the price being asked.

Maybe its a different control scheme, or soemthing that would make no sense or look stupid in the actual game taht only an App can make sense of the stupidity for?

Yeah, but does someone who really wants a Justin Bieber toothbrush have to go out and buy Martin Sheen shorts in order to acquire it? The cross-promotions HAVE gotten out of hand, enough is enough...:)

Yes, I truly MISS the days of getting an entire game all in one, without DLC or silly spinoffs. When i see the addition of multiplayer, or spinoff games such as this, I see extra missions, planets, armor, guns, and story that Bioware omitted from the actual
game to put on future DLC and/or on this "ME game for IPad". I'm not talking about "100% Galactic Readiness", I'm talking about content that could of easily of been on ME3 to make this IPad game.
