Mass Effect 3 on XBox One Character Import not Working

He means that you can only import from Mass Effect 1 into Mass Effect 2. Just as you can only import your playthrough of Mass Effect 2 into Mass Effect 3. The decisions/choices made throughout both games however are still carried through if you have been
importing the same character throughout.

Basic explanation as to how the import mechanic works.

just start a new game and import mass effect 3 character.

Until ME3 is released, not much is known about this. One would assume that if you were level 30, your character would be around level 5 in ME3... just have to wait til more info comes out.

also if i do a play through in mass effects 2 and beat the game then do another play through on same character to raise my level BUT don't finish the 2nd play through will that mess things up for mass 3? or will i have to do a full 2nd play through
for my team mates to survive or die

Only completed playthroughs can be transferred from ME1 -> ME2, so again, I would assume the same would be applicable with ME2 -> ME3. I'm guessing you know how to have all your squad survive the Suicide mission in ME2, so if you do a second playthrough,
keep them alive etc and easy to carry over.

As with Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3 will allow the player to transfer their save from the previous game, carrying over their character and plot decisions. In addition to importing Mass Effect 2 plot decisions, Mass Effect 3 will import any Mass Effect
or Mass Effect: Genesis decisions that were imported into Mass Effect 2. However, Mass Effect 3 will not accept a Mass Effect 2 save game where Shepard was killed at the conclusion of the suicide mission, Mass Effect 2 is considered the end of the main series
for that Shepard.

Mass Effect 3 will reportedly import over a thousand variables from a Mass Effect 2 save game.

Character transfer:

When importing a Mass Effect 2 character into Mass Effect 3 the character will be brought forward exactly as they left off. New players will be given an approximation of what they would have had at the conclusion of Mass Effect 2.

Major Plot Decisions

Mass Effect Edit

The following major choices from Mass Effect are imported into Mass Effect 3, and have a visible effect on the game.

Rescuing Kaidan Alenko or Ashley Williams during the Virmire mission.

Whichever character survived will have become a Spectre and will be available as a squad member.

Killing Wrex during the Virmire: Wrex and the Genophage confrontation.

Wrex will not appear if he was killed.

Rachni Queen on Noveria.

Mass Effect 2 Edit

The following major choices from Mass Effect 2 are imported into Mass Effect 3, and have a visible effect on the game.

The outcome of the Suicide Mission.

If Garrus Vakarian and Tali'Zorah vas Normandy survived, they will be available as squad members. If Jack, Jacob Taylor, Legion, Mordin Solus, Miranda Lawson, Thane Krios, and Zaeed Massani survived, they will appear in some capacity

For anyone who happens upon this looking for a solution to the same problem, the solution that worked was starting a game on the XBox 360, playing for long enough to create a save game (in the cloud), and then loading it up on the XBox One. Still can't
find my ME2 saves on the One, but the ME3 save works. If you don't still own a 360, I don't know what to tell you.
