Mass Effect 2 not working with backward compatibility

Currently enjoying re-living the Mass Effect experience on my Xbox One through the wonderful feature of Backward compatibility. As I near the end of my intergalactic journey I was getting my self excited to play the sequel as well as number 3. So I went
out and bought the Mass Effect Trilogy (Xbox 360) which included all 3 games in one sexy package.

This is where I've run into my issue. I put the ME2 disc into my Xbox One only to be greated with an error message which says along the lines as; 'This disc is not playable here'. And then directs me to go check the Xbox Ones backward compatibility list.
However all of the three games are there.

So, maybe the trilogy discs don't count toward backward compatibility and you have to buy each game separate on disc for it to work? Seemed likely as companies often have these weird grey areas when it comes to this sort of stuff. Well so I thought. As a
test I went to go try and use ME3 and strangely enough that worked straight away and allowed me to install to my hard drive.

Now I'm Sat with Me1 on the verge of completion, no ME2 and a pointless ME3 installed.



Was hoping anyone could shed some light on this. Any work arounds? Or does the ME2 disc from the trilogy box set not work and I have to buy a separate copy. Eager for your reply! The milky way won't save itself

Mass Effect Backwards Compatibility

As you rightly confirmed only Mass Effect 1 is available at the moment for bc games as you can notice by the link here

Backward Compatibility of Xbox One X about Xbox 360 game "Mass Effect 2"

I am in trouble because I cannot install Xbox 360 game "Mass Effect 2" on my Xbox One X console, in spite of "Mass Effect 2" exists in backward compatibility list (Xbox One 下位互換性 | Xbox).

I bought digital version in Microsoft Store of Windows 10. But I couldn't install "Mass Effect 2" on my Xbox One X console, although I could install "Mass Effect 1" and "Mass Effect 3".

I have a Xbox 360 console too, so I can play "Mass Effect 2" game. But I want to play it on the Xbox One X console, if possible.

Is there a method to install this game on my Xbox One X console?

Thanks for posting this up, we definitely want to make sure you get the whole 'save the universe' thing sorted out! To start out, let's try the following steps:

• Check the disc to ensure it's clean and without scratches and give it another go.
• If the issue continues, press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console until it fully powers down. Once your Xbox One powers down, boot back up and give it another shot.
• If the issue continues, try temporarily switching your Xbox One console region to a different region (such as United States, United Kingdom, Canada, etc) within the Xbox One system settings and insert your disc to try again. After trying this step, be sure
  to switch everything back to the region you're in.

If the Mass Effect 2 disc continues to give you that error message, fill out our
Backward Compatibility Survey to let the appropriate teams know. Keep us posted!

Unfortunately the steps you listed haven't helped me, or the galaxy, fix the problem. However cleaning a good ol' disc brings back memories, especially after switching to pretty much 100% digital. Good bit of breath and the bottom of a T-shirt aha

I've filled in the questionnaire and now I await a reply. Almost finished Mass Effect 1 but luckily I'm a sucker for buying new games I have no time for, so got plenty to keep me occupied! I'll keep you posted on any updayes.

The Universe will have to hang on a 'wee bit longer, it doesn't have much of a choice really

Bump and Update!!

I know I really can't class 11 days as a long time but I eventually gave in. I haven't received any communications in relation of my problem after submitting the survey, be it a confirmation that they have received nor they were working on it.

Instead I've just gone out and bought a stand alone copy of Mass Effect 2. Brining my cost for an old 360 game close to a newly release AAA tittle. Luckily it's worth it as this trilogy is spot on.

Least the stand alone copy works and I have no issue with it at all.

Must be an issue with the trilogy edition of the disc but still doesn't explain how ME1 and ME3 work fine? But I hope you guys can figure it out so it doesn't happen to anyone else.
