Mass effect 1 Completionist

Sort of both. Primarily, you just need to do the missions and assignments, though in order to get some of the side quests, Wrex and Garrus particularly, you have to talk to them several times to get them.

Well, if you are talking about BioShock 1 and Mass Effect 1. I don't see why not both. BioShock will give you somewhere around 8 hours of fun and is replayable again for a slightly different approach and ending. Mass Effect 1 will give you about 20-60 hours
of fun depending on how much of a completionist you are and is extremely replayable for completely new experiences. I say, get both, considering I think they are both $20. However, my bias says get Mass Effect over BioShock if you have to choose.

bioware said completionists will have a richer mass effect 3 experience, that doesnt mean the other 694 hooks are actually gonna make a difference in the end: verner will never save the galaxy, shepard will tho

Makes sense in a way to have it like this. I am a completionist too, I don't go forward with the major part of the story(such as Virmire) until alot of the subplots are completed. Besides, the side missions are what complete Mass Effect, in my opinion.
