Marvels Avengers Battle for Earth Freezes on Opening Menu

Hey, everyone! I'm so sorry to see that this is happening, and that Ubisoft is unable to assist you.

As far as we're aware, this game is disc only, which explains why Ubisoft believes it to be a disc. However, I wanted to clarify a couple things.

• Which version of the game are you using? Digital or disc?
• Are you able to try on another console to make sure it's not the disc, if you're using one? If digital, have you tried a different storage device?
  
• Have you tried launching with a fresh save instead of the save you have on your console/in the cloud?
  

Give those a shot and get back to me! We'd like to nail this one down with you, and trying those steps will give investigative teams a good idea on what works and what doesn't.

 

I have a disc copy, I have tried it in 2 consoles and the problem is still the same.

I've tried deleting my save, using a different storage device and the problem is still the same.

Then I switched to a profile that doesn't have a uplay account linked to it and the game worked.

Then I created a uplay account for this profile and the game started crashing again so I'm sure the problem is linked to the uplay account

 

Leonheart 91 - That is precisely the kind of information I was looking for, and really helps with troubleshooting!

With that, I will ask that everyone, in addition to the above steps, please try launching the game with an account that does not have a Uplay account attached to it and get back to me with the results for that. I would really appreciate the assistance with
that so that we can get it up to the right people to look into this.

 

I've already tried it, if you don't have a uplay account the game works fine.

 

But if you don't have a uplay account you can't download the game trials and have the complete experience of this game...

And if you have a uplay account like me you have to play offline or the game will freeze.

This is all.

I have a digital copy of the game bought at the Xbox Marketplace and the same happens here.

I installed on the original internal Xbox hard disk and after tried to install on a USB external disk. In both cases I cleared the cache and the savegames. Game keeps freezing.

I tried with my Gold account that is linked with Uplay. Game freezes.

I tried with my wife's Silver account that is linked with Uplay. Game freezes.

I tried with a new fresh silver account NOT linked to Uplay. Game works fine.

I tried to start all over. Downloaded my account, downloaded the game, downloaded the patch in a new device. Game freezes.

If played offline with no matter which account, game works fine.

In short:

Game updated + Live account + Uplay account = Game freezes

Game updated + Live account = Game works fine

Game without update + Live account + Uplay account = Game works fine

 

Also game with update + live account + uplay account + play offline = game works fine

 

Thanks, guys! Once we have others in here confirming for us, we'll be able to pass this along.

I understand that having you guys test it out for me is showing it's not working, however we need to make sure that we still follow our processes here. I do highly suggest reaching out to Ubisoft still if you haven't, however we will continue working with

Thanks for the update, Leonheart 91! I'm sorry to see that they cannot update you on the situation, but hopefully they get it resolved fast!

 

I'm having the same issue. The game now freezes at the Main Menu if you are online and
have ever had your GT linked to Uplay.

You can play if you disconnect your Internet; no need to delete the patch.

With an alt account, I tried unlinking its GT from Uplay on the
Uplay account site, but the freeze still happens. The freeze does not occur with an account that has never used Uplay, as others have discussed.

 

I found a way to play online, but it doesn't solve the Uplay Trials issue. The solution is only for those who have the ability to block certain IP addresses on their router.

The trick is to block communication between your Xbox 360 and the IP address 216.98.48.101 (lb-lspsg.ubisoft.com). The game will not freeze. However, if you try to access Uplay, you get an error message that Uplay is not currently available. Therefore, I
can see no way to download the extra 8 Trials at this time.

Sorry for the double post, but I thought this technical info could be useful to solving the problem. The issue is definitely related to the game trying to communicate with Uplay.

 

I understand this is a old thread. But I will tell you this. the ubisoft tech should of did a trial bug. Because it's the update. If your account wasn't ever linked to uplay at all. Then the update works.

For my account I of done so many trial and error as deleting your gamer tag, move your save file to see if the gamer tag or save file was corrupted.

With the update and being offline using same account the game can be played. But if you use another gamer tag which never link to uplay being online with the update works.

Just as long you never linked uplay at all.

I tried assassin creed 2 uplay. And works fine. Why sell a game while the update of uplay freezes the console?

I can confirm that if you use another gamertag then link that gamertag through the game it self to uplay account does freeze the game. Even if you link the another gamertag from uplay account (pc) still would freeze your game in the menu's.

My last save was 2015

So the update had to happen around 2016 jan

 

Hey, Keith03820! I actually really appreciate that you have bumped this. This fell off my radar for a couple months, obviously. With more people in here now, though, I've got this sent up to the right people on our end to see if we can work with Ubisoft
