Marketplace: Theft of Intellectual Property

Not to be outdone in the ever-growing list of Intellectual Property theft perpetrated by
massive

corporations using internet search tools, someone within Xbox/Microsoft has exhibited some very weak moral choices and a lack of creative character or talent. Which is my long-winded way of saying they stole the creative work of another and posted it as
purchasable content in the Avatar marketplace.

Specifically, the headpiece in these Avatar costumes:

Compare that mask to the physical mask developed by MissMonster here:

It looks to me like they did a 3D scan and plugged it into their larger outfit as a mask piece. The similarities are...well, it's the
exact same shape and form as the physical artwork. Far too exact to be mere coincidence. Not much I can do in the face of Microsoft's corporate strength except spend a little time standing up for an artist whom I admire and that I've seen face
this type of theft far too often. As an artist myself, I find this action deplorable and just wanted to take my time to call you out on it.

Piracy is a fact of life, so why not just have fun with it?

@voteDC @BEASTmmb I'm aware of companies and owners of websites being taken to court for intellectual property theft however I am yet to hear of an individual having a lawsuit against them for downloading files for personal use. Please correct me if I am
wrong with some resources.

 

Locked Designs and Tunes

@duh bandit Intellectual property is intellectual property regardless of its in a video game, CD, DVD, Rock Band, Forza, or otherwise. The person that created those designs has copyright because it is there intellectual property. You can discredit me
all you want, but you are discrediting the people that created those designs by altering them and making them your own, plain and simple.

 

Because I believe in fairness where it's due, I felt I should come back here with an update. Recently, the artist has reported that
"Disruptive Publishers reached out to [her] and will be compensating [her] for all sales earned from the assets and has pulled the items."

Kudos to them for stepping up and doing the right thing here.
