Map Size

Hi All,

we know that the mapsize has increased with 36x. But when how i can create (in crafting table) a map who visualize more then on xbox 360? In minecraft wikki i've readed that there should be a possibility to craft maps for other, bordering areas or also in
relation 1:1, 1:4, 1:16.

Does anyone have an Information for this?

Map Size

I really want to walk from corner to corner on the maps in Black Ops 2 counting the steps with Theater, then compare that to the same thing for Black Ops. I swear, with the exception of Nuketown and Firing Range, Black Ops' smaller maps are about the size
of BO2's mid-range and slightly larger maps. I feel like I'm playing on a dollhouse version.

 

Map Size

Smaller maps, emphasis on Objectives, Late Ghost unlock (and have to be moving for it to work), is a step in the right direction for intense gunfights and more action, which I like. SSRs everywhere are a pain, but its no biggy, Ill spam them back. LP could
be great if the rules were a bit different.

 

Just so you know, seeing something on the Minecraft Wiki does not mean it is available in the console version. PC is still very far ahead of the console versions of the game. There is only one version of the map on consoles. Also, if the world was imported
from the 360 it will not increase in size, it must be a created on the Xbox One for it to see an increase in size.

 

Yes ofcourse. I've created a new world on Xone und on my crafted map i can see when i walk very far over the border of it. now problem.

But when i understand you correctly: the Feature for crafting bigger maps is not included at the moment?

 

Correct, they may add it later, but right now it is not in the game.

I managed to get lost off map for about an hour the other day lol. I now carry a compass when I go exploring

 

So ... the world has increased in size , but we can't adjust the map ?

 

You can make a new map once you're in a new area. Wait until you've crossed the border though. I think it's about 25 maps for the world

 

I was going to report this as a bug:

If you import an old game from the Xbox 360, there is no change in the size of the realm. Frankly I was hoping for an enhancement ;o)

If you start a new game selecting the largest Map, it is larger than a standard XBox 360 realm of approximately 400x400x128 high. In the XBox One version my map covered approximately 550x550x511 high, however the realm appears to be far larger than what
the map can display, although the coordinates will keep a track of your current position. I guess this can only be by design... sort of like Columbus sailing off into the new world, or perhaps Marco Polo crossing continents...

It never occurred to me to create a new map once I've crossed the border; I'll give that a shot )

Just had another thought: I will test using the same seed to create a new realm to see if I can create a larger version. That'll be fun =8o),

 

Finally got around to testing the same seed on the XBoxOne:

If you select a LARGE map, it does create one massive map that appears to be roughly
100X bigger: In Creative Mode, I flew to the far corner where the cords were 2559 x 2559.

Also took the opportunity to confirm the Map issue when traveling into new country: In Creative, I copied over a new map into the quick-select once I had crossed over the border; that process works very well. Can you imagine carrying 100 maps of your realm?

As cool as it was to apply the same seed in the XBoxOne version,
the world was not identical; it’s more like a cloned animal where you can readily tell it has the same parentage, although there were some changes in the way it developed. In the original XBox360 map area, most of the significant landmarks
appear recognizable, however some of the tallest mountains has massive growth above a certain elevation, and coastlines along the border in the original were now continuations of landforms and biomes. Obviously having a larger environmental height
and breadth had allowed the mutation to grow with interesting vigor!

More striking was the absence of two villages in the original. Instead I discovered some sort of
shrine-like temples with tripwire traps located elsewhere on the map. Many large surface caves appeared to be very similar, though internal features, like lava and waterfalls had shifted. Flying around inside, I found a huge stash of diamonds and gold
nestled in the side of a ravine, and I am certain that same edifice exists in the original <nods> ftw! However, as I said – not everything was perfectly replicated: One place on a small ridge near where I had built a palace… was now a steaming pool of lava.

It has taken me several months to create railroads that crisscross the map of the original in Survival mode. Having a realm that is 100X larger is both exciting, and yet daunting to navigate. Perhaps this could be achieved through the Nether using Creative
mode ;o)

One thing I did to help me not get lost, was I wrote down the coordinates of my "house". So, when I was out exploring and went off "the grid", I knew which direction I needed to run to get back home.
