    It doesnt let me change my DNS address under settings. Right now it is automatically putting in a IPV6 address and not using my fastest DNS address. I would like to put in my own IPv6 DNS address (that is recorded HALF the ping to the current dns its reverting
    me 2) but the set up on xbox one only allows me to type in IPv4.

    that would be fine and i would rather just put in my own IPv4 address if possible but it looks like the xbox prefers IPv6 because when i try to put in an IPv4 address it doesnt work and it reverts automatically to the IPv6 numbers that run like horse poop.
    Why would xbox prefer IPv6 and than not even let you manually type in an IPv6? and than if you can only type in a manual IPv4...why doesnt it let you type in an IPv4 if you have an IPv6....something is wrong here.

    My router doesnt seem to have any options for preferring IPv4 over IPv6 either! i really need help getting off this DNS it is automatically connecting me 2.

    maybe a too much technical question, what type of protocol you provider delivers? IPv4 or IPv6?

    example:

    IPv4: 0.0.0.0

    IPv6: 2001:2353::1428:57ab

    Can't configure manual DNS settings

    I have tried the same thing manual DNS setup does nothing. In my case the IPv6 DNS names are displayed in the network configuration (even though I am configuring IPv4) and there is no way to change them. I have setup IPv4 manually but the DNS is still
    taking DHCP IPv6.

    Manually Type in IPv6 or revert to IPv4

    To change the DNS settings you need to go to Settings – Network – Advanced Settings – DNS Settings – Manual enter the primary and secondary DNS servers. After entering them it should come up checking connection and if everything is ok go back into advanced
    settings and it should show the new server ip’s

    no it doesnt. i type in primary and secondary dns servers and exit and it comes up with the IPv6 still. Just like i said above. cause it prefers the IPv6.

    Unfortunately You can't set IPv6 DNS servers on Xbox One manually, You need to change them on Your router/gateway.

    If your are from comcast, its the Gateway. Its not providing the DNS settings in the right order and it confuses the Xbox. Restoring the gateway to factory defaults sometimes resolves it. If you do reset to factory, it will clear any setting you had
    made to it such as WiFi passcodes, SSID, Security ... The WiFi passcode goes back to the one printed on the label.

    The real fix is to throw that gateway out on the highway - now its fixed. Netgear is a fairly stable router

    This work also... sometimes.

    If the network setting are showing IPv6 DNS and IPv4 IP address, it sort prevents you from changing them around. I figured out putting the Xbox offline you can now enter a manual IPv4 DNS settings, then go back online. The DNS might come back showing the
    IPv6 stuff on the display but the Xbox will now have the IPv4 DNS also, just does show on the screen.
