Making Indie Games

First of all, sorry if this is in the wrong section. Almost no section seemed to fit this question. I'm a college student who wanted to start trying to make Xbox One Indie Games. I looked at the program, ID@Xbox and I noticed that in order to sign up, you
need to have made a previous game. I didn't make a previous game. I don't want to go and make a game now just so I can start developing Indie games on Xbox One because that will take a while. If I'm not mistaken, Xbox 360 Indie games development was more college
student friendly. Is there any other program to make Indie games or any way I can make them without signing up? Thanks in advance.

LOL....The Other Press Conference Seems to be ALL ABOUT MEDIA!

There was only one game that looked indie. Otherwise they had nothing on them. The console doesn't even offer a suport for any indie dev who will be making games for X1

 

Fable (Arcade/Indie Downloaded) Freezes at Start

Just curious, why is Fable under indie games? It's not an indie game and should be under games on demand (all 3 of them).

I hope this wasn't someone making a scam indie title but I really just want to see what the problem actually is here.

 

Any particular reason your choosing to make a game for the Xbox platform? Although getting better it's the most indie developer unfriendly platform and the player base has shown a general disinterest in indie games in the past (plenty of threads here especially
at launch that indie games weren't "real" games.)

Game submission is extremely easy, larger player base than the Xbox and a very accepting community of indie games. There are people designing games with RPG Maker and getting them Greenlighted so anyone can be a game developer for very little money....

 

Going with Steam is probably your best chance. If you look at the indie games coming out for the One, some of them are already available there. If your games good enough, you may catch the eye of someone at Xbox.

Make them on PC, its an open platform.

 

I don't want to make one on Steam now cause apparently you need to buy something to be able to make games. I wanted to make it on Xbox because I wanted to make my game a 3d multiplayer game, and in my opinion, 3d games, especially multiplayer, are more fun
on consoles. So I can't make Xbox One Indie games without previous experience?

 

They ask for studio work references in the app so my guess is yes.

A 3D multiplayer game is a lofty goal for someone with no experience. I've used RPG Maker and even making 2D games is very time consuming but the cost isn't bad to get started. With zero experience I'd start small.
