Making an Xbox 360 console the default for downloads from xbox.com

I've gotten a new 360 console and I've been trying to set it as the default console for future downloads; but I have been unsuccessful in getting it to work. I have seen many suggestions to hit the "download all" button, but that option is not available
to me. Is there any other options I could try?

Last month I got the gears of war 3 slim console prior to that I had an elite. First thing I did was transfer all my data via the data transfer kit to the new console. This worked as all of my info was now on the new slim. 2 days ago I made a purchase
on xbox.com and last night when I logged into my console it told me that this item was assigned to another console and that I could change it to the slim if I wanted to. I said yes and it downloaded just fine but my question is this is there a way to make
my new slim the default console for all future purchases on xbox.com? I assume that if I purchase something from the console itself this should not be an issue.

Whenever you see something in your download queue that is "assigned to another console", you can change it by selecting the "download all items" option. Even if there is only 1 item in the queue, this will change your default console to the one you are currently
on, and all future downloads will be assigned to that console.

 

That is the only way I know of. That option should be available to you. Make sure you are queuing a download from the website and then on the console open your active downloads list and select the download by pressing A. That's where you should see the "download
all items" option.

 

Had you done a license transfer to the new console?

support.xbox.com/.../download-content

If not, go ahead and do that. When you download something next time make sure it gets downloaded to that console first and it should solve the issue.
