Making a child account

I'm looking for help making a child account via PC.

I have successfully done this before, but this time, I enter my child's information, then go to the screen where I consent with my login, and then it goes to the next page where it says that "We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found. The URL may be misspelled or the page you're looking for is no longer available.".

I have contacted help online and via phone multiple times and so far, no one seems to have an answer.

We don't own an xbox. My kids just want minecraft only, and the older one uses a tablet/currently plays and I would like to let the younger borrow my phone (and then eventually get him is own device).

Let me start with the stupid paranoid questions:

Is there a minimum age for xbox accounts? He is under 5.

I can have more than 1 child per family account without paying? I assumed so, but that may be a mistake.

When I contact online help, they just try getting me to sign up in different browsers - which doesn't fix it and I get the same error.

They also have me try from within his Microsoft account and directly via the xbox website - which doesn't fix it and I get the same error.

Most recently they said try to make a new child account from scratch, which I have and still have the same problem.

What am I doing wrong?

I may try to be patient and try again - he turns 5 in less than a month now.

I have been trying with this on and off for a couple of months.

Just to confirm, there isn't a maximum number of children on a non-paid account?

So I am replying to myself in the hopes that this helps someone else.

Searching through the internet, someone found a solution.

After you go through the motions of making a child xbox account and then get the error page, then go to:

https://social.xbox.com/changegamertag

Somehow it seems to convince the account to start by addressing the gamertag.

No, you can have on your Microsoft family as much child's accounts as you need

Have you tried changing the age that you are using to create the account, there is no limit stablished on Microsoft support for child accounts, but under 5 seems a little unusual so it might be

This sounds like an issue with a Child Account that is managed under a Parent account. I deal with this same issue with a sub Child account. If your account is a child account you will have to make this free purchase using a Xbox 360 console only. For
some reason this is the only way to make this work, I do this with 2 Child accounts for my Grand children I manage. And it does not matter what your age is, if the account is a child account under another account you still have to make this purchase with
the 360 console.
