Make this my home Xbox

I have a situation I need help with. So I set my brothers Xbox Live account to "My Home Xbox" on my Xbox so he could play my games on his console. I wasn't really sure what I was doing at first so I kept changing it back in forth from my console to
his. I guess there is a limit on how many times you can choose to set your "Home Xbox" too and the limit is 3 times per year. I didn't know that until it told me I wasn't able to change it anymore because I used up all my chances. So now what I'm trying to
figure out is if that limit of 3 times per year is linked with that actual Xbox itself or to the Xbox Live account I did it with? So if I were to buy a new Xbox would I have those three times again or will it be the same because it is linked with my account?

I'm using a friends email and password to add an account on to my xbox to download something. I've downloaded it and want to delete his account from my xbox and made it my home xbox so I can play the game whilst I'm on my own xbox and my own account. Once
deleting his account, he won' t have any access to my games from his own xbox?

That's not how Home Xbox works, and he never had access to your games. Downloading his profile to your Xbox does not give him access to your games on his Xbox.

And deleting his account won't make the game playable by your account; the game is still owned by his account (the licence is attached to his profile), so to play the game he would also need to be logged in on your Xbox while you play.

Changing *your* profile's Home Xbox affects only where the games *you* purchased can be played, it does not allow you to play games that you downloaded using someone else's account.

This issue is linked with your account, but I just confirmed by calling into Xbox Support that they can reset the "3 time per year" counter associated with the account.

She deleted my gold subscription in the process, but we eventually got everything worked out and I could then set my Xbox back to "my home Xbox".

FYI, ask that they "manually" reset the counter rather than resetting the whole account.
