Make the Kinect free with the purchase of an Xbox One

I just wanted to know what you folks think. Why doesn't Microsoft make the Kinect free with the purchase of an Xbox One? I mean doesn't it seem like Microsoft kind of gave up on the idea of a mandatory Kinect-in-the-box too quickly? Or maybe it doesn't have
to be mandatory just for the operation of the console? They just include it free and they can still push gaming forward enhancing the gaming experience with a peripheral that is actually quite impressive in my mind at least.

Apparently they don't make the adapter anymore (or at least its not available to purchase in Canada. So was my upgrade to the xbox one S just a mistake since it made my Kinect nothing more then a paperweight?

Or will they send me one for free since I owned the original xbox one, the Kinect, and the xbox one s?

If not for free, then why have they stopped selling it in Canada?

You need one xbox 360 purchase on your account from a xbox 360 in order to get free games

Only for the first free purchase best option borrow a friends console and make a purchase with your account t on that console or rent one from your friendly neighbourhood blockbuster and make one purchase

To be honest anyone wanting the Kinect can find so many great Xbox deals with the Kinect cheaper than a Kinectless Xbox.

So personally nothing needs doing as all the packages Microsoft are dishing out are very competitive.

I would actually make Xbox One my day one purchase if they dropped the Kinect being mandatory and dropped the price to 399.99 w/o a Kinect.

Whoever told you at the time of purchase lied to you. Microsoft publicly announced that the Kinect would not be required to utilize the console a few months before the release of the product, and was very public regarding this if you followed the latest
news. However, they also stated that the way they designed and marketed the console was that "Kinect" is part of the console. There are a lot of reasons for it, but the biggest one would be, making sure that everyone has the capability to utilize Kinect
commands so that developers are a lot more free to include those options in the games they make without alienating the people without "Kinect".

The short version, The console plus the Kinect "is" the Xbox One.
