Major "Real Name Sharing" Security/Safety Issue!

I've already been in contact with Xbox Support, and they are currently working on this issue...but yet has to be fixed, and I wanted this in the forums to make others aware of this issue.

I have my settings to block my real name from showing up next to my Gamertag...but it is not working. No matter what steps have been taken, my display name is being shown next to my gamertag and will not shut off.

They've had me go through several troubleshooting steps including deleting my account from my console and then bringing my profile back to my console, didn't work....and even had me go through the the real name set-up and then choose, "turn off name sharing"...and
not even that is working.

They had it fixed last night...but then when I checked again this morning the issue had returned.

Something else weird happened today though...when I noticed this morning that the issue returned, I checked my real name settings and it still said block...but then an hour later when I was speaking with customer service, he had me check my settings again
and it now said allow...and I did not change any settings. At 10am this morning, the real name settings said block...at 11am this morning it said allow. The setting changed by itself. He had me change it back to block, issue still won't go away.

I've gone through at least a half dozen troubleshooting steps to fix this issue...and they still can't figure out what is going on and why my profile isn't accepting my blocking real name requests.

This is actually a very serious issue...and a very serious security/safety issue...and needs to be make public.

They've temporarily put a "band-aid" on the issue, by having my change what my display name says. So even though it won't stop showing my display name, at least I was able to change my display name so it no longer showed my real name.

I will give them a short time to fix this issue, if they cannot fix it soon I will cancel my account, sell my stuff, and go buy a PS4...because I will no longer feel safe using Xbox Live.

I was told that the real name feature was a highly requested subject...but I actually find that hard to believe. If someone wants you to know their name, they will tell you their name.

BigBen...even if it's only showing up for friends, it shouldn't be showing up for anyone...I have real name sharing turned off.

It appears only to you not your friends or followers if you have it blocked. It appears on my account too but I turned it off don't worry.

Just to say I searched up your GT and it did not show your real name or any other name, as per xxxGhost Riderx said only you will see your named as you blocked it from showing it.

I know this can be scary about showing your real name but be safe in the knowledge that only you can see it now.

You can change the setting for each of your friends by changing friendship, and this will give you a choice that you can choose from.

Here's a solution to this... and you may not like it... OPT OUT of doing the real-name sharing.. then you wouldn't have this issue.
