    Major Issues Since Latest Update

Managed to get my Xbox to boot today and got signed into xbox live after about 20 mins. Still couldn't get into the system setting menu or any other application so decided to do the factory reset with the USB. Factory reset complete and I got back to the
main setup of the xbox. Got to the part where I choose my wireless network and cant enter a password. No on screen keyboard shows. Used a wired connection and then wasn't able to enter my login details as I have no keyboard again. Any other ideas ?

    :)

Major Twitch issues since latest dashboard update

Ever since the latest preview program dashboard update, Twitch has been a nightmare to work with.

I see app snapping is gone, but this puts Twitch streamers at a huge disadvantage if they don't have another way to look at chat. When you do snap it to go live, it stretches the game on the live stream and cuts off 1/3 of the game on the streamer's end,
making it impossible to game this way. Please fix this.

The new bar that displays time streaming, viewer count, mic on, etc. at the bottom center of the screen while live is extremely hard to work with. It covers up very important things in almost every single game I play. If users could have the option to shut
this bar off, that would be amazing. Or at least give us the option to move it somewhere else on the screen so I'm not missing important tools and information in my games.

I'm also have a major issue of using the Kinect with the Twitch app since the update. The camera will suddenly shut off and no longer appear on the live stream. This corrects as soon as I open the Twitch app to see what went wrong, but continues happening
rather frequently throughout the entire cast.

I've been a loyal Xbox streamer for almost two years and this is by far the worst update to the Twitch app for streamers so far. Please correct these very serious errors ASAP.

Hey pplnxt10km! Because you're in the Preview Program your best bet is to submit feedback through the console. Additionally if there are features you'd like to see added in the future, submit those ideas
    here. Thanks!

    Major Issues Since Latest Update

Sheesh. Mine just keeps turning itself off after a few minutes. Trying the factory reset. So annoying, only started happening after the latest patch. Not sure if it makes a difference, but I do not use the always on feature.

The last couple days I was at least able to get it to boot after a few tries. Not tonight, 67 times in and still shutting off. If this reset loses my D3 characters I'll be pretty annoyed.

Oh great. The system reset crapped out too with a system error page.

Just to update any one that cares. After a restart the system restore continued to completion. Started to recover all my user profiles and then started the install of one of my games. For some reason it didn't start installing one boot as the game was in
the drive, so I ejected the game. Which crashed the console again. Which means the factory reset didn't change anything (I didn't really think it would as I think this issue is related to the September patch I got Monday). Any ways, another reboot, inserted
the disc and the install started, about 15% in the console crashed again. Rebooted and continued the install, so far it's still going. What a freaking pain. Given the other problems people are reporting I really think it's something in the patch. I've also
felt like the console has been louder since the patch too. I asked for a support call from MS so I could talk this through, been over an hour and still waiting.

Hope this is something they can fix soon!

Even if a new patch comes of for it I cant get mine online anymore as I have no onscreen keyboard after doing the factory reset and it still runs really slow.

Just spoke with Xbox Support and this is what our chat concluded:

    1. Do a hard reset of system (Hold power button, unplug for 10 mins, restart)

    2. Do a factory reset of the system

    3. Clear persistent storage (Settings > Disc & Blu-Ray > Persistent Storage > Clear Persistent Storage)

    4. Reset alternate MAC (Settings > Network > Advanced > Alternate MAC > Clear > Restart)

    5. If all else fails, something "went wrong" on your xbox due to their most recent patch and they want you to send it in for replacement.

This troubleshooting process kinda upset me at the last step considering multiples of us are having this issue with the same symptoms and yet we are responsible for sending in the device, a hold of 500 dollars on our account (same price as a new system).

Very unhappy Xbox customer right about now.

So support got back to me last night. Just to recap, my issue has been slightly different that Pumpykin's. Mine was an issue of the console just randomly turning itself off after only a couple of minutes of turning on, sometimes not even making it to the
dashboard. I have also noticed it has been sluggish loading up apps and stuff, but not to an unusable degree.

Sorry for the long winded details below, but here is what I was taken through last night by MS support. I don't yet know if my problem is gone as it was sporadic at times in the first place. So the next few days will tell.

I tried a factory reset, via the settings menu (when it finally had stayed on long enough to try). That didn't do squat as the issue was still present. I noticed that the OS version was still the latest (sept patch - which is when my issues started).

Support had me try, what they call, the 'diagnostic tool'. Which to me is a misleading name as it didn't show any diagnostics. Basically, these are the steps I was led through:

    • get a usb flash drive
    • plug into your computer, right click it and choose 'format'
    • select "NTFS" (it'll wipe any data stored on the flash drive as an fyi)
    • in the meantime, go and download the original XBOX Operating System:
    • unzip the file on your computer and it will have a folder like '$system' or something like that
    • copy that folder over to the flashdrive
    • disconnect your xbox from the internet (disable wireless or unplug it, whichever way you are connected)
    • turn off your xbox one
    • unplug the power and wait a bit to ensure its fully powered down
    • plug the power back in and plug the flash drive in to the console
    • now hold down the sync button and eject button simultaneously (sync is the tiny button on the left of the console you use to map a controller to the console)
    • while holding down those two buttons, turn on the console, you should hear TWO beeps after the initial 'on' beep
      • NOTE: I messed this up a bunch of times and the console just kept booting to dash, so I would just turn it off and try again. I think it was really just in my timing of hitting & holding both buttons.
    • after your hear that, you can let go, it should basically be running through a restore process using the USB drive
    • I plugged my console back into the internet when the console setup screen (big controller) started
    • it very quickly showed a screen saying there was updates and seemed to install them, since it was so fast, it means it loaded it from my hard drive
    • I just continued through the initial process from there, you can remove the usb at any point then
Just to re-iterate, I don't know if my problem is actually fixed. It didn't shut itself down on my last night at all after doing this, which was a good sign. The next few days will give me a better idea.

I asked a bunch of questions about what this process was really doing versus the 'reset to factory' you can do from the console. The support guy didn't know much about the questions I was asking, just running me through a script I think. My understanding,
from the little he did say though is that the 'reset to factory' really just clears your drive of all non-operating essentials, which means it doesn't remove the patch (that I think is causing the problem). However, the use the USB drive pattern boots the
console on the original OS and then re-applies the patch that sitting on your hard drive. So they are slightly different.

However, if I think the problem is actually with the patch itself or somehow I got a bad variant of the patch, I might try the process again but instead of placing the original OS on the USB, I'll use one of the newer ones from the same page.

Any ways, hopefully this gives others something to try out. But as of right not I can't confirm whether my problem is fixed.

Yeah am not too happy about having to run the factory restore on the console. Not only have I lost any thing that was downloaded on it but I cant sign back into it at all anymore. Paid 400 pounds for it 3 months back and not able to use it anymore. Not had
an console from MS yet I have not had to send back for repair yet. Maybe this should be a lesson.

What do you mean you cannot sign back in? Are you getting errors or is your console not booting correctly after the factory reset?
