So do you think it'd be better that you've played Destiny if you're going to get D2? Do all of your character stats carry over? Everyone else will probably be OP compared to me, fresh meat.

I never play Destiny, but D2 looks good so I might get it.

How's the community? Is it toxic like CoD? Is there a SP campaign?

I've watched lots of gameplay and it looks pretty dope.

    :)

Fallout: New Vegas has major technical difficulties. I'd recommend Red Dead Redemption if you haven't already played it.

Major disadvantage in D2 if you haven't played D1?

I'm in two minds about Destiny 2 because the first game really pished me off, on account of no substantial story mode and lack of *Mass Effect-esque* character customization (outside of garish robes and ceremonial guff). Not to mention null achievement for
reaching the soft cap of Level 20 (seriously, not even 20G for taking a leap of faith with your shiny new IP, Bungie?). Apparently, you *can* carry across your base avatar if you reached Lv 20 in the OG - but nothing else. That ain't saying much, because everybody's
avi looked like everybody else's - at least in social spaces, and peeps were more concerned with shiny loot and boomsticks than narcissism.

There's a chance I'm only 24 hours away from taking the plunge again. Destiny 2 is the pack-in game with my shiny new PS4 Pro (Glacier White), but I do fear it's gonna be a whirlwind romance if the lack of [character customization] rears its generic head
again... however, at least I'll play it more convincingly this time because there *is* a substantial story mode and tacked-on adventures to keep you in the zone. As for multiplayer and community, it's the [OG's] saving grace if that's what you're looking for.
Whether or not I spend any length of quality time with it will be down to my adoption of the PS4 itself. My gamerscore lives and dies on Xbox, so at the very least it'll be a break from the norm.

If you *do* take a chance w/Destiny 2, be sure to let us know what you think! Major disadvantage in D2 if you haven't played D1? ;)

Nothing statwise or weapon wise etc carries over.Everyone starts from new.

There is a single player campaign/story mode in this one apparently.Mind you, they said there was a story mode in the first one & that turned out to be a load of tosh.

As for the community, not played Destiny for ages as I sold my copy in disgust.Hated the multiplayer anyway.

It's a game that's really best enjoyed with a group of friends as communication & teamwork is key to a lot of things.

I'm guessing the story mode can easily be done on your own.

After what they pulled with the first one I have zero interest in this whatsoever.

As a showcase for the power of Pro, you can't go wrong - there's shinies appearing from every orifi... er, crevice lol. But here's the thing: from all accounts Bungie upped the stakes across all platforms (this time including PC for the uber edition, but
you gotta wait another month for that one) and it shows. But there's just one teensy-weensy problem with the sequel. When I went to create my avatar from scratch, I was greeted with the SAME BORING TEMPLATES from last-gen! There was literally *no* means to
create a unique identity! Gotta agree with Badger - Bungie done gone and pulled a fast one (again) >_<

If this is your first play of a Destiny game, then you shouldn't have any complaints, but I've got a fistful of other first-party titles for *that* platform, and after you've witnessed the majesty of say, Uncharted: Lost Legacy (!!!!!)... well there's no
turning back! Destiny 2 has just been shelved Major disadvantage in D2 if you haven't played D1? :p

    Ouch.

Been hearing it's pretty much the same, nothing really new stands out & before you know it you are doing exactly the same grind with the same enemies as the first game.

A few friends have already rinsed the "story campaign".

I think anyone who played the beta figured that out.

With that said, those who enjoy Destiny (and apparently there are a lot) don't really seem to care. They just love it. (who knows why)

Oh yeah, people do love it & I got no problem with that.

The gameplay of the first one was top notch,i just thought the first one was a complete rip off so have no interest in Destiny 1:5

  10. I swear that I read before release that there was a ten year plan for Destiny. It seems I had wrongly assumed that the first game would run for essentially the current console life cycle. Rather it looks as if they are doing the standard sequel release schedule
    with minor improvements between games.

You guys have me doubting it lol. Does it feel light on content which is a complaint many seemed to have about the original?

So it also seems that a major draw in this game is to collect exotic weapons? That doesn't interest me all that much. I want the feeling of exploration and discovery of new planets. Does it at least have that or is that more to Mass Effects strengths?

Top tip: Brandiesel, if you've been playing ME Andromeda, then I think you've answered your own question! If you want "exploration and discovery", then keep on playing Andromeda. I'm sure Destiny 2 will offer up a chunk of explorable terrain, but you're
more or less hogtied to the critical path. Word is that the campaign can be dusted in 20 hours... funny that, because I paid a chunk of change for the 'Deluxe' edition, but my exotic weapon (Coldheart) and my 'Legendary' emote and sword aren't accessible until
I've reached Lev. 20! By that time, I will have completed the campaign (or not) and my interest in playing farther will have diminished.

Destiny 2 *looks* to be a step up from the original, but since we've already established that your base identity is indistinguishable from the first, and that the enemies you face are simply more of the same - juxtapose the likes of Crota against Ghaul (note:
they've swapped out a whole letter for GHOUL - how progressive!) - you might wanna check your enthusiasm at the door. On the other hand, if you want some classic Bungie beatdowns, then ditch Destiny 2 and double down on Halo (The MC Collection et al). Ain't
nothing to see here that ain't been seen before (4K notwithstanding).

  13. Major disadvantage in D2 if you haven't played D1?

I'm one who liked the OG Destiny despite the repetitive aspect of it. Admittedly, I hated the pricing scheme, but that was down to patience. I simply walked away when Taken King released and waited until the Destiny Collection hit Deals With Gold for $40.
    Problem solved (for me).

As for Destiny 2 and those complaining that it's just "D1 all over again", such has been the case for many sequel games... FFS. Seriously. If they'd changed a whole bunch of stuff people would be complaining that they actually called it D2 when the 2 games
were barely alike. The base game and gameplay is much the same as well as the enemies, but there are plenty of detail oriented differences. Too many that I've noticed, in fact, for me to list. Not that I have anything against those who want an entirely new
and very different experience every time they get a new game... I just that I think they should be smart enough not to bother with sequels in the first place. I bought D2 because of everything I enjoyed about D1, not because I wanted it all changed.

TBH, I think it's a bit early to be asking if it's light on content. The OG Destiny didn't feel that light on content in its first few days, but after the story was over and it was down to strikes and raids, it got repetitive fairly quick. But the gameplay
and enjoyment factor (playing with friends especially) made it fun despite repetitive content. I feel that ME: A actually has less of an exploration/discovery feel to it than its predecessors in a way (IMO), mainly because they added a fast travel system to
planets in some quirky attempt to make the game feel "open world".

In that aspect, D2 and ME: A are a bit the same. Both have fast travel maps, which I find give any game a bit of a feel that you're being directed to "hot spots", rather than encouraged to go out and explore. Not that it stops you from exploring if you want.

Weapons in Destiny are pretty much like any other game where weapon/armor drops are classified. White, green, blue, purple, gold... basic, common, quality, legendary, exotic. It's not going to ruin the game for you if you don't care so much about collecting.
Exotics typically have an extra perk that they're capable of and better overall stats than most others. DGMW, exotics are definitely worth having and I love it when I get one... but it's not what draws me to the game.

As for exploration and discovery, I think that the Destiny games have it to a degree... but it's not something that'll rival ME... because it wasn't meant to. There's still plenty to do and find, at least on the maps I've been on.
You'll probably have enough content, if you explore all the zones, do the side jobs/quests and don't just pursue the campaign nonstop. But in the end, after finishing the base content, it's going to be what Destiny is. Strikes and raids, which will
no doubt get repetitive if you play the game a lot. But what makes the game good for those who like it is the gameplay itself. It's intuitive, comfortable and feels rock solid. It feels good to play and that makes it fun. It's not the same without friends,
as has been mentioned. If I played it solo all the time, I'd probably understand many of the complaints and criticisms it seems to get... but who wants to do that? I have enough other SP games to satisfy that side of my gaming habit.
