Mainmenu didn`t respond to buttons after some hrs

Hello,

i`ve following problem:

after some hrs of playing, if i press the xbox-button (on my elite controller), the mainmenu appears and no matter what category i wanna open, the xbox does nothing (i can navigate as always, just confirming doesn`t work). It only makes the "clicked element"-animation
when i press "a" on any entry but without any further actions. This is very annoying since i can`t open any other games, chats, etc... . I can`t even restart the xbox. This behaviour appears first about 3 weeks ago, can`t tell the exact date.

I also tried it with an second controller (max. 3 times used, so it`s nearly brandnew) to be sure that it isn`t a controller-issue -> same problem, and...i use logitech`s harmony (but only to switch on and off the system combined with the tv and 5.1), but
with that one it also doesn`t work. The only good thing is, that i can shut down the xbox via the harmony and restart it again with the controller, then all works as it should.

Btw: i get no errormessages or something like that, it doesn`t simply not respond to the "a" button anymore ( the button works in still running game flawless, so a damaged button can also be excluded).

Anyone a clue what the problem could be? I don`t wanna restart the xbox only if i wanna start another game or open settings.

**EDIT: It works now that I turned off the xbox thru settings and then unplugged it from the wall. Thanks for reading! This hadn't happened to me until the new update so I thought it would be good to know!**

This only started happening to me too after I downloaded the update this morning. I just turned my xbox on and my select commands aren't working, I cant get it to select any game either. This might have something to do with the fact that you can press "b"
to go back to where you were before on the main menu. I currently cant enter any codes or play any games and Ive cycled the power which Ill try once again. Please help, dev team!!

Hello Humbug,

Power cycling the console once in a while is very beneficial. It allows the Xbox to rest so to speak. Just like a PC they say it good to power it off once in a while. Let us know if it continues.

Reset doesn`t work.

copied the game from external hdd to internal and started it from there. If the problem still exists, then i`ll unplug the external and try it a last time ...

Hi there,

this might be a cache related issue, especially when using Instant-On option, in order to fix that (and prevent it happening again) please try the manual power cycle steps like mentioned on the following link, be sure to wait at least 60 seconds before powering
on again:

Thank you for reaching out to Xbox Forums Support. If you haven't already done so, go ahead and try performing a Soft console Factory
reset on your console by doing the following:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Settings.
Select All Settings.
Select System.
Select Console info & updates.
Select Reset console. [Keep my Games and Apps]

Make sure you have both your email and password on hand as you will be asked to sign back in.

There is an option to delete everything and to save your games and apps; choose the latter. Hope this helps!
