Mahjong won't load

I tried to access solitaire, mahjong and taptiles today and none of them will load. The logo screens just hang there, then go to taskbar.

Mahjong games won't load

For me, everything loads fine until I get to the ad that would play. It started 3 or 4 days ago. Ads play fine on Sudoku so it is not my ad blocker. Please change out this ad so that we can play.

 

My Microsoft Mahjong won't load

I have not been able to play Mahjong for two days now. The first page of Mahjong comes up and just sits there.

 

I have managed to play both solitaire and mahjong by putting the internet in airplane mode. Then both games launch and allow me to play daily challenges. This does not work for wordament, taptiles or snap attack

The errors you mentioned typically have to do with updates that did not install correctly or got stuck somewhere during the process. Please try the following steps to make certain that everything is up to date:

1. Press the Windows key

2. Type in Windows Update

3. Under the search bar you see on the right, choose Check for Updates

4. In the Windows Update screen, press the Check Now button

5. Even if it doesn't seem to find any updates, click on View Details

6. Install any updates you see that haven't been installed- including optional ones

7. Restart using the restart option from the shutdown menu.

Then please try these steps:

1. Press Windows Key + R

2. In the box, type wsreset.exe and press Enter

3. This will re-launch the Windows Store

4. Hover over the right-hand side to bring up the charm bar

5. Choose Settings

6. Choose App Updates

7. Choose Sync licenses

If you find that these steps show that you are completely up to date, then please try the following in order to fix any possible corruption in the games' files. Uninstall the game and then restart your system by selecting the “Restart” option from the shutdown
menu. Once you’re back up and running, press the Windows Key+R and type wsreset.exe in the dialog box and press Enter. This will refresh and re-open the Windows Store app and you can reinstall the game.

Please let us know if these troubleshooting steps do not get you back into the game.

 

I am having the same problem and have tried the steps above. I still cannot play mahjong, solitaire or taptiles

 

I have now restored the latest system image file from my backup disk (dated 11/5/2014) and all apps now work.

 

I have run the Symantec tool to remove Gameover Zeus Trojan this morning and Mahjong, Solitaire and Taptiles has stopped loading again. I ran this last week, but did not realise that it had caused the problem that time. I am fairly sure that I do not have
the Trojan but something in the Symantec software is breaking the Mahjong program

This is the problem I had, the symantec software, but I'm worried that I've left it too late for a system restore, as I tried to go back to the date in question and it wouldn't list a date before that. I'm now installing the updates from windows again that
I received in June. What can I do if this doesn't fix it apart from a refresh?

 

This has not fixed it, so obivously I would have to go to an earlier date for restore, but one is not listed. I wanted to know if you are working on a patch for this.

Have you also tried a refreshed installation of the game using wsreset.exe? If there is no way to whitelist anything in Symantec, it is possible that the program is blocking the games for some unknown reason and most likely will have to be disabled in order
to play.

 

Yes I have tried this numerous times and it doesn't work. In fact the last time I tried was this morning. How can I disable this program when its not listed in my unistall/installed programs list? I don't use symantec for antivirus, I only downloaded the
fixtool off their webpage from the list that the CERT UK suggested.

 

Symantec Zeus is purely a tool that does a one off scan for Zeus and removes it. It does not remain running. My suspicion is that the scan in some way corrupted the appdata that is held in secure files to which the user has no access. Even if you reinstall
the game it will still look for the same appdata.

I have no Symantec software on my computer but I did run the Zeus tool from the CERT site.

Taptiles, Solitaire and Mahjong now fail to run.

I have seen various suggestions to delete appdata files but as I am not an expert I would rather get a tool from Microsoft to do it, if indeed that is the problem.

But if your OS is up to date, and you have the latest version of the game, it can surely only be another program on your computer or the appdata.
