Mafia 3

Why I say the city feels alive is because people will run to the phone if they see you committing a crime, say something if you bump into them and because of the era it's set in will make comment about you if you are in a certain part of the city. You will
see street performers, like someone playing the saxophone and generally people getting on their daily business.

On another note I went to dispose of a body in the water to hide it and an alligator ate the bodies lol.

The open world aspect of the Mafia games has never been up there with the GTA games but I don't think they were never meant to be.

Did get worried when no one was allowed to review this before release so held of on buying it.

Will probably cave in soon though lol

 

Regardless of whether you like the game or not it seems to be different for gamers in terms of technical issues. I've played for around 7 hours and not had one issue. Seen on Twitter others reporting quite a few issues so it's an odd one. Only thing I can
think of is there a difference performance wise between disc and digital? ( I'm digital )

I'm splitting my time between this and Gears but I'm absolutely loving Mafia 3.

Like a few have said here, fantastic story, stunning soundtrack. Personally give me this over any GTA game for the story ( well what I've experienced so far )

I'm even liking the side missions/quests. Fun, varied, hasn't got boring.

The only slight negative I would say. When just cruising around the world looks a bit bland, doesn't feel as vibrant as some open world/sandbox type games.

I highly recommend it but just be aware there are a few reporting issues but again up to yet it's been fine for me.

 

Had 3 more hours playing since last post and thankfully still no problems to report.

Story, characters are all brilliant. It really drags you in.

I had another look on Twitter and today I haven't really seen anymore post anything major in regards to issues, few dashboarding issues, freezes on console, well nothing new to what I read before.

The biggest issue seems to be complaints from PC players because the game was only 30fps ( patch coming to change that )

And interestingly IGN have been accused by several folks of making up stories about the game. Not saying it is true but nothing would surprise me with that site.

The story is for whatever reason the developers refused them and others early review codes so straight away IGN made their own assumptions, who knows.

All I know is I'm loving this game. No issues for me so far and can't wait to get back on it.

 

Someone I follow who 's playing this on the PS4 posted a photo on twitter with a floating car in the air, the only issue I've had so far is when I went to play it and had no sound, I just had to exit the game and reload it. But apart from that nothing major.

But so far I think it's a really good game, I'm also finding it easy to stealth my way through some levels.

 

After watching more gameplay and reading more about it I'll get it, but I'll wait for a sale.

The stealth works really well on this game. On quite a few missions I've manage to take out all hostiles without using a gun. Few missions met the objective without killing anyone, sneak in, sneak out.

Also I don't know if it's just me but I like the driving on this game. Ok it's no Forza but other open world games I sometimes felt driving a bit of a pain but it's ok here. Some missions I've done it actually reminded me of the old Driver series.

 

I wonder if some people with issues have deliberately not yet applied the day one patch that may fix these issue.

I have not had a chance to play this yet as I have been too busy today and probably won't have time until tomorrow morning.

 

Lofty you said you played about 10 hours right? Did you complete it or do you know how close you are? Just wondering the length

 

One annoying thing is there doesn't seem to be fast travel. I didn't use that in The Witcher 3 but I like it to be there just in case.

No where near completing it mate. Looking at my achievements I still have the majority of the main story to do, not taking into account loads of optional missions that have opened up.

It's not like the optional missions are over in a few minutes. Without giving too much away one I played last night. Travel to destination by boat, collect 3 pick ups. Head back to shore, take out several hostiles, then drive a massive truck over half the
map. This alone took me 20-25 minutes.

If you like open world/sandbox type games then there is loads to do. Huge main story, loads of optional missions, mini missions, wire taps etc, collectibles which there seems to be loads of. I'd say your easily get your money's worth.

@ Brand. No fast travel unless I've missed something.

 

Had a couple of hours yesterday and considering this is probably my most wanted game of the silly season, it failed to hook me. Dashboarding me probably never helped, maybe tomorrow will be different.

2 complaints or moans - the text is very small and the cover system is adequate, but I want to be able to move cover to cover with a button press...surely that's a prerequisite these days?

 

You can move from cover to cover by pressing the A button, but must admit it's not the best.
