Mad Max: Fury Road now available on Xbox Video

For me it didn't concentrate enough on the main character Max and as I said before, I think the original Mad Max film is brilliant but in my opinion as with a lot of remakes, they just go so OTT trying to make it good, better effects, massive explosions
etc ( not saying I don't enjoy all action films ) and for me it just takes so much away from what made the original so good.

As I've said on these forums before ( with games also ) it's just a difference of opinion. Plenty of times me and the wife have watched a film and one of us likes it, the other didn't so is it a good or bad film? again just a difference of opinion.

So if it's true what was said online, the majority liked it then I'll sit happily in the minority as I really thought it was a bad film.

 

Granted, I can accept differences of opinion, but the way I look at it, I have to wonder - if you think this is a bad film, what would you think of a truly bad film?

 

Received very good reviews from film critics and the public.

At the end of the day though Mel Gibson is always gonna be Mad Max for those who've seen the original, so watching someone else play him in a reboot is going to be like watching Henry Cavill play Superman for those of us who grew up watching Christopher
Reeve convince us that "Man can fly".

But people should not be put off by Lofty's disinterest. He's just a guy who didn't like the film.

As it stands the original "Mad Max" wasn't really released to any general cinematic acclaim.

It was a really violent and savage film set in a dystopian future released at a time when that sort of stuff was fresh and new and it's main claim to fame is that they did a pretty good job for the shoestring budget they were on.

Be nice to see what they did when they were able to throw tons of money at it.

Won't be picking it up through the XBox Video medium but we'll definately end up watching it on the ONE.

 

GG what difference does it make if people who didn't like it are in the minority? Just because it got good reviews on something called "rotten tomatoes" doesn't mean it's good or 98% people will like it. The movie was truly horrific. I would rank it right
down there with Toxic Avenger movies.

Az made a good point though. For me Mad Max is Mel Gibson, not saying there's nothing wrong with remakes, enjoyed a few myself but sometimes it's hard to get your head around the character being played by someone different.

That's not the only reason I thought the film was bad though but I don't want to post spoilers for those who haven't seen it. I'm sure loads enjoyed it, loads in the future will enjoy it also but I'll leave this thread by saying, thank god I don't have to
sit through it again.

 

I got one question, this will make or break my ability to watch the movie, everything depends on the answer I get to this most important question.

Is there dog food and double barreled shotguns?

 

Yes I loved the older movies when I was a kid but that's not why I didn't like the new one.

 

Any one who finds the first film "boring" probably thinks Michael Bay is art house cinema....

Truly, the most absurd, crazy, WTF!, and 'bad-in-a-good-way' movie you will ever see - Everybody should experience it at least once! its hilarious!

I have dreams that one day we will see a 'toxie' videogame : )
