    MAC address refuses to change


    I travel a lot with my job so i tend to bring my xbox along with me. However, when i got to change the mac address to fake out the hotel wifi routers, the address will not change.

    I input the new address> it says it needs to restart> it restarts> mac address is still original address.

    I want to change the mac address of my x1 because I want it to work in the hotel i work at, but everytime i type in a mac address it shows : type in a valid mac address.

    I tried the mac address of my phone, my tablet and my laptop, but always the same problem can someone help ?

    IF anyone is still getting caught up in the MAC address junk I found a solution by holding down the power button for 10 seconds! It works every time I have an issue with the connections unit on my XBOX. Perhaps it might work fro you guys?

    MAC address refuses to change

    try clearing your alternate MAC address first. To do this go to Settings, All Settings, Network, Advanced, Alternate MAC, then Clear. You'll need to restart after this.

    eliminating the colons worked for me, thank you
