M.S. double Standards.

Turned on my XBone only to find on the Home screen was an advert for You Tube. And it said "F**k Boys, What every women should know, I slept with a F**K Boy (the letters weren't blanked out by the way) Now had I used language like that on these forums I'm
sure that I would be censored for it (quite rightly so). So why is this displayed openly on the Home screen? I'm assuming that if a parent has put an age restriction on their child's Xbox this would not show up, or at least I hope it wouldn't. Just a thought
if a child is signed in on these forums, does any age restriction set on their Xbox carry across to here?

I don't know if it's still there on account of the NXOE update, but there was alternate XBL programming specifically featuring family-friendly content.

 

Where do you guys gets these adverts? Everything on my screen is game only related. Maybe Irish home is different than States? Also I have never seen any curse words. Strange.

 

Sounds like a simple oversight. I think you are over reaching here. I don't think it was intentional. It was probably just a random YouTube clip, and it happened to contain profanity.

 

At the end of the day, your xbox is (I'm guessing) an adult account. These forum's are family forum's.

 

I've never seen any profanity on my home screen. All I ever see are game related ads. I don't even have mine filterd.

 

^Was just going to say, my account is the only one on my Xbox, it's unfiltered and I've never seen profanity on the YT app that I can recall. You may hear the occasional word in a video... but I seem to recall even the thumbnails for clips would have asterisks
over certain letters of a curse word. Maybe I just haven't looked hard enough? lol

 

EVERYTHING provided by YouTube, is provided by YouTube, NOT Microsoft! True Microsoft neatly displays ads on the Dashboard, but it's Google you should be complaining to. Microsoft has no control over it, unless Microsoft removes those ads forcefully.

 

All content, including advertising content, is provided by YouTube NOT Microsoft. Google owns YouTube, NOT Microsoft. So I would complain to Google. Google may taylor ads to what you've recently watched on YouTube or something. So if you're watching xx stuff
you may get xx stuff as an advert.

 

I suppose the supreme irony of this thread is that if what you're saying is actually remotely true...

The adds you receive are tailored to your surfing habits through cookies.

 

No annoying ads on mine yet just game related stuff.
