Low Volume Playback for Blu-ray Discs, and Various Apps on Xbox One X

    Hello everyone,

I love my Xbox One X, games play excellent on the platform. One issue I'm having with the console though is low audio playback for movies and shows.

I have to turn my volume up by about four times when doing the following:

    - Watching a Blu-Ray Disc.

    - Watching a show or movie via the Xbox Crave App

    - Watching a show via the Films & TV App

Games however, have no audio issues at all.

Does anyone know why this would be, and if there's a solution?

I'm using an older Samsung LN32C35 LCD TV, and my Xbox One X is connected via the HDMI Cable it came with. I am using the TV's speakers, and I'm not in a Party or anything when watching any of this media.

I had a similar audio playback with my Xbox 360 E console when watching DVD's and shows from Films & TV, though I didn't have to turn the volume up as high (maybe three times over normal).

    Thanks!

    :)

Movie soundtracks are dynamic things, and in order to capture that the volume must be lower. The “loudness wars” cause fine details to be lost and for dynamic range to be very limited.

You need to use some form of external amplification like a sound bar or a surround system. Flat panel Tvs, especiallly older ones have poor sound

    Thanks for the replies, both.

The odd thing is, the Crave App was working just fine until it had an update about a month-ish ago, and now it too needs to have the volume seriously cranked.

I know TV speakers lack the quality of a proper 5.1 or better sound set up, but it's still odd to me that games, and YouTube now that I think about it, are fine audio-wise but Blu-ray Discs, and two specific apps are not.

This tells me it's something without how the Xbox One X is transmitting the audio data, not the speakers themselves.

its likely to do with surround sound and how it's handled by the tv - you normally have to set an audio boost for 5.1 audio when plaything through stereo speakers. I have the same issue with Plex and my Firestick.

Why is the Blu-Ray Playback So Buggy On Series X?

Hello SonicXHero, My name is Khaji I am the independent advisor and I will be happy to help you today.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with Blu-ray playback on your Xbox Series X. I can offer some steps you can try:

    1. Make sure your Xbox Series X is running the latest system software. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can address issues with Blu-ray playback.

    2. Some Blu-ray discs require firmware updates for proper playback. Check for any available updates on your console.

    3. On your Xbox Series X, navigate to Settings > Disc & Blu-ray > Persistent Storage, and select "Clear Persistent Storage." This will clear any temporary data that might be affecting the playback.

    4. Go to Settings > Disc & Blu-ray > Blu-ray > Persistent Storage, and select "Reset Blu-ray." This will reset the Blu-ray settings to their default values.

    5. If possible, try playing other Blu-ray discs to see if the issue is specific to certain movies or if it occurs with all discs. This can help determine if the problem is related to the console or the specific Blu-ray discs.

It's worth noting that occasionally, certain Blu-ray discs can have compatibility issues with specific players or consoles. If the problem persists with multiple copies of the same disc, it's possible that there may be an issue with the disc's encoding or compatibility with the Xbox Series X.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding! If you need anything else, do not hesitate to contact us again.

Blu Ray Problem: Cannot play Game of Thrones Season 3

The latest update did not fix the playback issue with Game of Thrones Season 3 on Blu-Ray.

Some users may encounter the error that was causing the Xbox to not read the disc, again, even after updating the Blu-Ray player app.

To work around this, fire up the Blu-Ray app with no disc in your Xbox.

You'll be prompted that there is no disc in your drive.

Insert Game of Thrones season 3 blu-ray into your drive.

    Viola, and enjoy.
