"distracting from the cons." Well whatyaknow, someone finally admits it. Now what to do? Oh, i know. Pitition the chains that sell consoles and get them to put a highely visable 0.10 cent "Net services required, even for initial setup." sticker on their
    instore and web displays.

  2. "Finally"? PMSL... goes to show how (intentionally to fit your arguments) little attention you pay to what does/n't work for you. I've said this before in different discussions. I didn't just "finally admit" anything I haven't stated before. How low does
an IQ level have to be to not understand even the most basic advertising strategies? lol Tune in tomorrow, when I "finally admit" that middle-men go straight to the manufacturer and buy bulk, then sell to end users to make a profit. *Gasp*

Go right ahead, petition all you want. Hopefully yours will get in there ahead of the other thousands upon thousands of other disgruntled individuals with an axe to grind because they didn't want bothered to do a little looking into their purchases, aside
from crying "It should've told me that on the box and the box should've been customized to my specific wants, need [to knows] since I should be as oblivious as I choose".

I mean really, maybe they should just personally interview each individual customer that buys a console and make sure that they don't have to do any of their own leg work. In fact, why not have a class at the retailer's store every few days, so that those
who are too lazy to read or do their own research and/or too thoughtless to look after their own interests won't have to be disappointed by their own ignorance.

Just FYI, the stores I've been to lately... there's damned ads and stickers everywhere. But yeah, you're probably right. It'd be cheaper to just put a "highly visible 10 cent sticker" somewhere among all the other stickers/ads. How about we put one up there
about GWG, the fact that they can update and change the UI at their discretion, games must be installed to HDD, an external HDD may be required for those who buy a lot of games, how many other complaints have there been? Well there's backward compatibility
may not work properly for some titles and may not include all titles, oh and let's not forget that you can't use many apps without a Gold sub. Oooooh, how about the whole CoC thing and the fact that entitled, arrogant, whining swill are expected to act with
a little maturity or face consequences, definitely gotta have a sticker for that somewhere and there's...

Yeah, you know what... I used to work in retail and I can tell you from years of first hand experience. You can put up signs that light up, flash, wave, spin, displays that talk and all kinds of attention grabbing "highly visible" **** and it still won't
keep morons from buying something they want, then complaining or even returning it because it did/'nt do something that nobody told them about. I can't even count how many times an irate customer angrily sneered at me in regards to a particular product or
service "Why don't you have a sign saying that!?" To which my response was, often enough, to have to nearly lead them by the nose and put their face within a few inches of the sign they never bothered to look for.

So go right ahead if it makes you feel better... write up that petition. Just know that 20k "highly visible" signs can't replace an ounce of common sense and at least a little motivation to learn about a product before purchase rather than cry about it afterward.

  6. When the always on requirement was first removed it was understandable that an internet connection would be required to patch it out, the consoles were already manufactured and on warehouse shelves.

Why however with the consoles manufactured years later has the software on them not been updated to include the patch by default?

Probably because there are monthly updates to the OS? I am guessing here, but pretty sure current on the shelf boxes don't come with the exact OS version as on first day release...

  9. What has monthly or even daily updates have to do with a gaming systems inability to actually run games right out of the box?

  10. Yet they still require the day one patch to remove the internet requirement. So it begs the question of why has it not been included if other aspects of the system software has been updated.

I know what the word means,i'm not quite sure you do though.

Still not sure what you are banging on about & to honest I don't think you do either the majority of the time.

So if anyone reads " xbox live & a significant download is required for initial set up" on the side of the box & understands that that means they need broadband to set the console up that makes them a attorney ?

There ya go folks,we've all been in the wrong job all these years because we can read & understand things.

What are you banging on about?

    What indoctrination? To who?

The xbox one has never worked straight out of the box,you need an update first. This is common knowledge & tells you on the box itself.

I bought mine at WalMart & they always allow you to return things so long as its with in the time period which generally is 30 days for most electronics. I am not sure where you heard that you could play offline being that every thing is server side on the
saves & what not. It has its good & bad points like anything else. I like it for the simple fact I can play a game with little worry of something cheating unless its a 360 game compatible with One where as there are so many ways people can cheat on 360 its
not even funny. The download is like you say you can not play offline, and sadly for me one of my game saves corrupted so I lost 2 weeks of game play & leveling which really ....ed me off.

If you can, take it back.

I just purchased an Xbox One S console before this last Christmas.

Found on the bottom of the box (I like to keep the boxes, I'm reading directly from it as I type) it came in (edited for the sake of shortening, but it's there and I included the entirety of the "Internet" section... which is definitely on the box itself,
despite being in rather small print.):

IMPORTANT! You must accept Xbox Software License Terms...

TV/Video Out: An HDMI display capable of 720p or greater is required...

Internet: Broadband Internet (recommended 1.5 Mbps down/768 Kbps up), a Microsoft account (under 13 requires parental consent) and an Xbox Live account required for initial online set-up, downloads/mandatory updates (some significant), and
some features (including retention of gameplay settings and information). Streaming 4k Ultra HD content requires a download speed of 18-24Mbps. ISP fees apply. (xbox.com/xboxone/gettingstarted)

    Xbox Live: ...

"I love buying a system that I can't use because I don't have internet." -- I'm sure you'll have a reasonable explanation for why you're able to post on a site that's on the internet, with a complaint derived from lacking internet, but I went there anyway
    because irony.

"I was under the impression that the requirement of internet was no longer an issue." -- Being under the impression of something and knowing it for certain are two entirely different things. Since you've already alluded to the fact that you had heard there
was an issue to begin with, one would think that you'd take steps to verify the truth of the matter before making such a purchase.

"Thank you for having me waste my money and making my only options selling it for a reduced rate or keeping it as a paper weight to stare at, it makes me so glad to be a customer of such a fine company." -- I believe returning it has already been pretty
well covered by others here. If you made your purchase from a place where you can't make a return, then refer to my above response about impressions.

"I really appreciate being informed of this in anyway shape of form as I might have reconsidered my purchase until such time as I had internet or they system would play without it." -- *Looks at box again* I guess you don't consider the fine print on the
box a "way, shape, or form"...?

"Thank you for being another corporation that does not care for every customer. I am extremely pleased with being lied to. Again, thank you so much for the expensive paper weight. This single mother loves staring at the system and games she can not use because
your company decided not to disclose the requirement of internet upon start up." - Thank you for being another uninformed forum complainer. I am extremely pleased to tell you that my sarcasm detector still works beautifully!
