Love the games, loathe the community

I just recently got into the series, but why oh why do people feel the need to use editors? Are those people so *** that they feel they have little or no option but to boost their health, damage etc even when up against noobs? Yeah, i could go off line,
but why the hell should people who play the game legitimately be forced to disconnect from the net?

I'm not very good and not too difficult to be beat on merit, so why bother? Rant over.

i'd love to play some custom capture the flag games. infection is fun too sometimes, but i LOATHE cops n robbers

 

Custom Games community

I LOVE playing infection and CTF/Assault games in customs...

loathe cops and robbers tho as I never could understand how that was played.

 

The community can be quite bad with all the cheating, griefing, ganking etc. That being said, I have found some nice people online as well. I guess you just need a bit of luck not to run into the worst part of the community.

 

Yeah, i don't doubt there's decent people out there. I was just having a rant. I'm not too difficult to beat, so it's all kind of pointless. Sucks the fun right out of the on line side of things.

 

It's pointless to cheat, period. If you win, so what? You cheated. If you lose, you lost even though you were cheating.

I've run into hackers and modders who were griefing low level players in the starting areas. How pointless is that? The only thing I can think is that they are trying to upset others and ruin their game experience. It's sociopathic.

But, like Sipuli91 said, there are good people in the community. I've had some pretty interesting experiences where I've laughed my backside off and met some cool people. Keep with it.

 

Yeah, cheaters exist everywhere. Dark Souls is no exception. Here's what I find funny. There's a dedicated arena for PVP where like minded people can enjoy PVP. Everyone is on board for the same experience. No surprises. Why then, do people still invade
other people's games under the guise of "I just wanna play some PVP" or "It's part of the game." What's part of the game? You being a *** for the sake of being a ***. I firmly believe people who invade other people's games outside of the covenant areas are
just people who get spit on IRL. This is their change to extract some kind of pathetic revenge. Kinda sad really.

 

Invading within the rules of the game is fun and it counteracts the fact that people can summon others into their game. If no one invaded, then others could simply summon in 2 phantoms and stroll through the game easily without fear of anything. It adds
a risk to going human. Besides, no one uses the PvP arenas for Dark Souls.

What I find funny is that everyone seems to love the arenas in DkS2. That's what I don't get. If you didn't like the arena in DkS1, why do you all of a sudden like it in DkS2? It's the same thing.

 

The DkS community is bad, but nowhere near as bad as Minecraft, DayZ, CoD, etc.

Invading and spontaneous PVP is part of the game. Do I enjoy ruining other people's games? Yes. This is the purpose of the Darkwraith covenant. I am here to slaughter you and steal your humanity, and then laugh at you.

That being said, I try not to invade in Parish or Burg because it isn't a challenge.

The point of invading shouldn't be to indulge in sociopathic tendencies no matter how much someone wants to hide behind what they claim the "purpose" of a covenant is.

 

Unfortunately for you, that is the purpose of the Darkwraith covenant. How you choose to do so (whether dueling or griefing) is up to you. Don't want to be invaded? Play offline like a good little casual and don't come to the forums to whine about how the
game isn't conforming to your wants.

We've had this conversation. Griefing is not the purpose of the Darkwraith covenant, nor does hiding behind this so-called purpose excuse sociopathic behaviors. And, there's no need to taunt others by calling them names like "casual" or claim that they
are whining. I get it. You think you're good at the game. Big deal. It doesn't give you license to act like a churlish brat nor does it actually make you a good person or superior to others.

As for what is sociopathic, enjoying the misery of others is sociopathic.

I would say that no covenant is sociopathic. Only individuals act in sociopathic ways and then try to hide behind the "purpose of the covenant" or "the game allows it so therefore I should do it."

I will say that I don't always trust Sunbros to be there to help. I have a low-level character that is in NG+7 and I often sit in the burg and parish to get summoned. More often than not, it's the Sunbros that go charging off trying to kill everything
in their path, regardless of what the host wants, with weapons that are inappropriate for the area, which isn't actually helpful to most hosts who are just starting out. Of course, that backfires for them pretty badly when I summon them to my world.

 

I think my point was missed badly. Evereyone is so focused on how bad the community is, when there is large set of players helping others get past some of the toughest parts of the game. I have been helped, and I have helped many others. All online games
will have griefers, it is the nature of the beast, but Dark Souls offers another option to players that not all online game have.
