Loud whining sound echo whilst in a Xbox party

Thank you for contacting the forums. This usually happens when there is mic reverb or feedback from another person. Is this just happening for one of your friends or all of them? From my experience, sometimes is best get a different mic or headset to fix

The sound appears a couple seconds after my friend speaks, it then gradually gets louder and higher pitched and eventually dies out after about 20 seconds

Your friend could also have their hedset around their neck, which does cause that issue.

I'd keep my Kincet on but enough people whine about the echo...... even though I have the game sound off and music too. (granted it might be loud to them but i can't kill what i don"t hear). Their loss and i like running tact on games like this,

it depends who is hearing the echo.

if you are hearing an echo then it is most likely that someone else in your party has their mic gain too high and has party chat through their TV or too loud in their headphones. check whose name shows when you hear the echo.

they would need to turn down party chat volume and/or change their mic sensitivity

No m8 he wasn't using that headset and his only solution is to use Kinect whilst in a party, not ideal but at least it saves all our ears listening to the echo !!
