Loud whine... Is there a newer thread?

Hey guys I'm having trouble finding s thread about my specific issue so I'm dropping it here. I have my Xbox one a little over a year now… I'm getting this intermittent super high-pitched steady wine that just goes on and off for about five seconds at a
time and my Xbox isn't even really warm…

Back in 2014 I found post about a defective coil, I thought maybe this could be the issue but I have a newer batch (I'm assuming). Anyway, any help with this would be greatly appreciated because the idea of sending my Xbox into Microsoft for something
isn't the most ideal thing to me

Slim PSU rev.2 noise

My PSU details are as follows....

MODEL: CPA 09-011A

REV: 03

POWER: 135w

VENDOR: E143709

MS P/N: X818314-005

The problem is that the PSU after a few minutes creates a windy whine that is annoying.

It is not so much a problem when the sound is on loud, but during movies from sky player, and you have quiet parts the whine is distracting and noticeable.

I have a friend who has Rev: 02 and although the windy noise becomes similar there is no whine.

With both Rev: 02 & 03 the PSU noise is distinctively louder than the console fan.

Some people online have suggested that either Rev:03 used cheaper components, or that some PSU are faulty and don't auto adjust fan speed.

I am hoping that there are newer revisions that do not suffer from this whining.

Anyone know what the latest revision is?

Anyone know if / why there are newer revisions, and are any quiet?

Loud whine noise

got a new Xbox one several months ago and never had any problems with it before now. I'm continually hearing a loud whine noise coming from the Xbox. Please help!

Sorry you're having problems with your console. Without hearing the noise it's pretty hard to say. However, usually it's a fan. If it is the fan try blowing compressed air into the air vents to see if it stops. Other things it could be are the disc drive
and the hard drive (but slim chances it's a hard drive). See if you can listen to your console to see if it's coming from the vent side, or the disc drive.

Is it a loud 'tone'? Is it annoying?

It's unlikely to be coil whine as that typically only occurs when a system is being pushed, not when it's on a low power mode.

Coil whine isn't related to system fans, the whining noise comes from power passing through a transformer or conductor.

Can you explain more of what this sound is like?

If you're hearing a loud whine that is not solvable by a software update, the console may need repairs. If you mean the fan is making a loud whine, it does that to an extent while under load and when it's hot but if it seems unusually loud the bearing may
be bad and you may need a repair.

It's very unlikely this will damage the console in any way. It's probably coil whine or electrical noise, which isn't necessarily harmful for your console.

Is the noise particularly loud or can you only hear it when close to the console?
