Loud screeching noise

Alright sorry for late reply. I tried what you said. With no change. Any idea what it could be making the noise?

I had the same issue. make sure there isnt a disc in the console (seems gen 1 has recently been having issues with holding disc for long periods of time without removal) especially if you're like me and only use digital games maybe you forgot it was in
there this fixed my screeching. if no disc I reccomend putting in a disc and launch the disc game fully, proceed to quit and remove the disc. this should solve your issue

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.
