loud noise when inserting a disc

When I insert a disc into the console, it makes a very loud and obnoxious noise. After a few seconds it says on the screen that the disc is damaged or dirty. It does this with every disc I put in the console. The noise is like a grinding noise or something.
It's a day one edition console.

This is a serious issue with the drive and was a very common issue with early systems. Really nothing you can do but get it repaired/replace here:

I would also try contacting a support to see if the could repair/replace for free:

i have had my Xbox me for a couple of years now and when I try putting a disc into the Xbox it makes a horrible grinding noise and sometimes doesn't read the disc any ideas on what to do

My X box has been working fine but it is making a weird knocking sound.

Don't know if it's about to mess up or if it will be ok. Think I'll just wait and see what happens cut it has a warranty.

 

@Blue silas defantliy a broke cd drive and will need to repaired at microsofts service center.

You can do this by phone or on xbox.com under support.

@DR 2EUSS sound like theres somthing not working as it should

You could wait and see what happens but as you still have warrenty i would get it fixed wile its free.

As its not going to get any better and we all want are xbox,s to work 100% the way intended.

I recently sent mine away for repair cause the cd drive was broke it took 10 days from pick up till i was happly gaming again

 

Bad drive, send it back but be very careful. I did it on the 2nd (as I have just made a post about it) and they printed out a return label on the 13th and here it is the 20th and there is no activity on the tracking. It is not even stating if Fedex picked
it up or not. I am so bout done with this whole gaming crap
