    Hello!

    I've had some problems with my rather new XBox, but didn't get much help from neither the retailer nor Microsoft. I hope someone here can help me out.

    I got the XBox One S at the end of October as my main multimedia-rig (not much space for several devices). In the past three months i noticed a lot of problems, which seem to have been around for a while and didn't get fixed, according to various forums.

    My major gripe is the playback of DVDs and Blueray-Discs. The audio just doesn't stay synced with the video. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It happens most of the time, when i resume playback of a disc i was watching. I don't mean pause->play.
    It is when i shut down the console and restart it the next evening to continue watching. I usually have to restart the movie/episode completely from the beginning to fix this. It's quite annoying. And guess what: fast forwarding sometimes causes a descrapency
    in the audio/video-sync as well...

    Oh, and by the way: the last played position is saved for only ONE DISC AT A TIME! So when i watch a movie during the weekend and return to a series after i come home from work, the disc starts right over from the beginning. Every cheap DVD-Player i had
    in the past handled things way better than the XBox does. I don't understand how it can be advertised as a multimediastation and not even compare to cheap off-the-line products.

    The games don't have that problem by the way, it happens only during DVD and Blueray-playback.

    But that's not all.

    The wifi of the XBox is also having problems staying connected. After a lot of research i found the solution on a forum: i had to change the energy-mode from "Instant on" to "Energy saving". Why the
    [Mod Removed - Profanity] does this device even have an option like this if it causes problems?! By the time i figuered it out i knew my long wifi-password by heart. This thing doesn't have WPS so i had to enter it via the controller over and
    over again (i had more fun with the text-adventures i programmed as a 7-year-old...).

    And last but not least: blackscreen of death

    That really ticked me off! When that happend during the last screwup of Microsoft i wasn't even using any online-features. I was watching a movie, when the console suddenly crashed and after a reboot i had this nice sight of blackness. A nice way to finish
    a long day of work...

    The XBox worked again after things where fixed, but seriously: who designs an OS this way? One mistake (that can happen, no argument there) and the device is out of order even for usages that don't require any online-services?!

    I really wanted to get rid of the whole thing, but my retailer just blocked me off - nothing to repair, since it is a problem of the OS and Software, so forget it.

    After that i opened a chat with Microsoft support, but they were no help either.

    I told them about everything i had a problem with and after a long wait i got an offer: send it in for repairs. I'm a computer scientist and don't believe for a second that these problems are related to a defect on the side of the hardware. So i wanted to
    know, what kind of defect could cause this. They didn't know of course... Since i refuse to undergo all the trouble of packing everything up and shipping it and won't get a solution in the end, i demanded to get a refund.

    I got a very rude reply to that (roughly translated from german): "I don't understand your bad attitude. This is the best console on the market".

    Seriously? Is that the way customer are treated? Shut up, and like it? If i were to talk to a customer like that - boy, would i get sacked on the spot... They didn't even bother to directly reply to any of the problems i mentioned. Just send it in and wait...
    (or get an amount of money blocked on your creditcard for a replacement during the time of "repair").

    I hope someone here around can help me out with this. I didn't spent all that money on something i have to troubleshoot every evening when i just want to watch a movie or play a game. If i just wanted something to play with i would have bought a Switch and
    a decent Blueray-player for movies. Since i wanted an all-in-one solution because of a lack of space, i have to say, i feel rather cheated by Microsoft. Seeing how long these problems have been going around the forums on the web i don't think they'll ever
    fix this.

    I did that, but i didn't get the option for a temporary replacement. That's when i contacted support and they told me, a replacement won't be possible.

    Ja, ich habe eine aktive Kreditkarte in meinem Konto hinterlegt. Deswegen verstehe ich das überhaupt nicht, zumal mir dieses Vorgehen in einem anderen Chat angeboten wurde.

    Dann hab ich jetzt eben die nächsten Wochen (es kann anscheinend bis zu 3 Wochen dauern) eine Stolperfalle in Form eines HDMI-Kabels quer durch den Raum vom PC zum TV.

    Wenigstens die Probleme mit dem Ton habe ich damit nicht mehr…

    Just a short update:

    Yesterday I've send the console in for repairs, though i still think it is a softwarebase problem and has nothing to do with the hardware, but we'll see.

    It just sucks that i don't have a blueray-player right now. I just bought the entire series of "Eureka" and have no way of watching it right now.

    I really hope all the hasle pans out right in the end, but at the moment i'm just extremly frustrated, the way i was treated by the vendor and Microsoft-support.

    But at least i wanted to say a big thank you here on the forum! You guys have really been great with all your hints and helpful replies!

    We have thoroughly read through the original post and its replies to the post, and all things considered, the amount of issues being experienced would detail that a repair for the console might be best.

    Considering that the console should not act this way by design, we would like to get the opportunity to repair the device for you in an attempt to clear out the issues.

    Has this been attempted before by any chance?

    Clarify this and we'll await your response.
