    LOTR Extended Edition DVD Won't Play


    I've been trying to watch the subject DVD on my Xbox One now for some time now. I've been patient, keeping myself busy with games and Netflix hoping an update would come out soon and resolve the issue. Well, I just tried again and it's still a no go. After
    a little research, it seems this has been an ongoing issue for years now, which is very disheartening. How can something so simple take so long to fix? Seriously, it's 2017! Wasn't the Xbox designed to replace all your other media devices? That's what the
    "One" was supposed to stand for, right? You'd think a 20+yr technology would have all the bugs ironed out, but somehow, the Xbox managed to create some. My faith in Microsoft Is definitely being tested if their devices can't even play DVD's. Please advise
    and please fix this issue!

    Are you running into this issue only with your LOTR Extended Edition discs? Could you try other DVD movies to see if they have similar issues? That will help us narrow down what the issue may be.

    I just tried, and my XBOne won't play any of the LotR Extended disks. The screen just goes black. I verified on another DVD player that the disk is good. I also put another disk into the XBOne to verify that it still read DVDs, and it's fine otherwise.

    The whole thing is pretty absurd, my LotR extended edition dvds play in every thing except my brand new microsoft multimedia solution. Like you say, it has been over a year since now and the best solution that has been offered up is to return you movies...lol.
    Really feels like they are just sweeping this one under the rug. Someone should make a post on reddit and really stoke the fires of outrage and resentment at the fact that the beloved LotR extended edition dvds wont play in a $500 dollar machine that came
    out less than 2 years ago. If the dvds will play in a $15 walmart special/literally every other dvd/bluray player on the planet, then I am pretty sure you can figure it out if you actually try. Get it together already!
