    LOTR Extended Cut DVDs don't work on Xbox One. HELP, MICROSOFT!


    This is a known issue, but the main thread on it was closed a couple years ago.

    My XBOne plays games, BluRay and other DVDs fine, but it will not play the LOTR Extended disks. Granted, I didn't try them ALL, but it won't play discs 1 & 2 of either Fellowship or Two Towers. The screen just goes black. I've had this issue for
    the last two years, since I bought the Xbox One, and now my international roommate wants to watch these movies.

    Can we fix this with an update, please? Your console was supposed to play DVDs.

    My LOTR extended edition doesn't work either. Ugh Microsoft, just ugh.

    As the support staff has stated even before, there are some DVD discs that have a manufacturing error when authored that prevent them from playing on the Xbox One Blu-Ray app. For further assistance, contact the phone or chat support:

    Um, the XBox One is supposed to be able to play regular DVD's as well. Anyways, I am having the exact same problem with the same extended LOTR DVD's. Other DVD's and Blu-Rays play fine. Any idea why this would be the case with these movies?

    Um, the XBox One does indeed play DVDs, I have tried it testing for surround. I have not tried my LoTR Extended Blu-Rays, I will try them later to see if it affects just the DVDs or the Blu-Rays as well.
