Lost xbox account after gamertag change?

Hello,

It seems I've lost access to my main account. Yesterday I logged in to play some Diablo and I kept being prompted with a gamertag change. Keep in mind my name on the account was "xaber" and has since the account was created. It wanted me to add numbers onto the end of my gamertag. I wasn't able to sign into my account without changing the gamertag. I power cycled my xbox and the issue still persisted. Since I couldn't get past, I decided just to proceed with the change and that's when I lost everything. No achievements and no gamerscore. No saved game progress.. I don't have anymore friends!! : (

I reached out to xbox phone support and keep getting hung up on. I message the chat and they tell me to reset my password (which I can't because of the email). I'm hoping someone can point me into the right direction or just tell me im screwed. At the very least I thought my stuff would transfer over but I don't know.

Also, when the new gamertag was set.. it seems like it took my email that I used for the "xaber" account. All my payment information transferred over as well. I can see the "xaber" account when I search for friends.

We are sorry to hear that you lost access to your main account. It seems like you were prompted to change your gamertag and you weren’t able to sign in without changing it. After changing it, you lost everything including achievements, gamerscore and saved game progress. You also mentioned that you reached out to Xbox phone support, but they hung up on you and the chat support told you to reset your password which you can’t because of the email.

Based on my search results, We found a page on Xbox Support that explains how to change your gamertag. It also has a FAQ page that explains how gamertags changed in 20192.

We are not sure if this will help but we found a page where you can sign in to your Microsoft account. You can try signing in with the email address associated with your account and see if it works. Change Xbox Gamertag | Xbox

You get one free change within 30 days after creating your account if you change it from a generated tag to a custom one,after that you will have to pay.

Hi there,

If you're not showing a gamerscore reset on your account
https://enforcement.xbox.com then you've probably just been hit with a glitch that has been randomly effecting users. And it just happened to take place when you changed your gamertag.

With the glitch, the score will return in a few days.

Users are only given 1 free gamertag change on account creation. All changes after that the user must pay.
